bloggoth Mission Statement:

We aim to never raise our sights above the gutter and preferably to stay much lower

Nasty tools

We at bloggoth anthropomorphise everything, not just birds, bugs and slugs but inamimate objects. We always thank any tools we have used for a good job before we put them away. Problem is, not everything is so nice to us in return.

More misrepresentation of the issue

We have said before that the right wing papers can often be the most Politically Correct, they feel the need to counter their "nasty" image on occasions by using stock photos that give a completely misleading impression on crime and other issues to do with immigration.

This item in the Daily Express is a good example. Britain is supposed to be failing vulnerable migrant children and the article is illustrated by photos of very young kids; one gets the impression that lots of toddlers and eight year olds are somehow finding their way into Britain. Young children do sometimes get trafficked or dumped at airports but how typical are they? There was an item on TV about this issue and the "children" they showed were certainly not children in any biological sense and a fair few did not look like children in the British legal sense either, it is hardly unusual for asylum seekers to lie about age. Unfortunately, these lies can be costly to challenge and some councils, ie their council tax payers, have had to foot huge bills for incorrect assessments as, under British law, anyone under 18 who claims asylum cannot be forcibly removed.

Insane. Even if some are only 16, what of it? We at bloggoth hitchhiked around Denmark at 16 and made all our own arrangements to get there. These youths from Afghanistan etc have often shown enough independence to cross an entire continent unnacompanied. 16 year olds are adults in every real sense and if the UK chooses to have an artificially high ceiling on childhood it does not mean we should have to apply it to those who have no rights to be here and have deliberately evaded the border controls of several nations. These are predominantly young males and several studies, like this one, show that young migrant males generally have a much higher involvement in crime that their native counterparts. They are unlikely to be anything but a burden to Britain and a threat to British citizens.

If any little kids like those in those DE pictures really are trafficked or otherwise sent here they should be helped but, in the great majority of cases, these "children" should be sent straight back.

Just stop looking, problem sorted

Every now and then there is a huge and popular drive to tackle some problem or other and the solution is always obvious. In the wake of the killing of April Jones by Mark Bridger who had viewed child pornography online, it is "obvious" that real child abuse would be vastly reduced if we could force Google and other search engine providers to crack down on availability.

We at bloggoth are reluctant to do any extensive searching using terms like "pornography child abuse" (a scruffy old white bloke who drives a white van - GUILTY M'lud!) and have to admit that our research on the matter is a little less thorough than our usual 2 minutes but the few articles we have seen do not look totally convincing. Yes, there would appear to be a correlation in that a high percentage of actual child abusers have viewed online child pornography but a correlation does not prove a cause. As with people who seek out anything at all online they probably look for what already interests them. If pornography actually shaped sexual interest then surely that Christian cure for homosexuals would be a reality, just force them to look at pornographic pictures of women.

What debunks this simplistic solution even more is the huge level of child abuse in the third world and developing countries and among the poorest communities generally. Look at the high levels of child abuse in Afghanistan and throughout the Middle east, in sub-Saharan African countries like Uganda and among indigenous peoples like the Australian Aborigines. Are men in poverty-stricken shanty towns with streets running with sewage really looking at child porn on their latest iPods?

One cannot query the orthodox thinking on this without appearing to defend child porn. Heaven forbid that we should actually concentrate on effective measures rather than waste lots of money to simply drive the problem underground. If such images are blocked by Google will that mean that children are no longer being abused or will it simply allow our authorities to ignore the problem rather than try and track the abusers down? Since there is a link, if not a causal link, would the best way to catch real abusers be to check out anyone viewing these online images rather than stop them being available at all?

We do not know for sure, as we said above, our research falls short of our usual standard but us engineers do usually know bollux when we see it.

PS We did find one interesting thing though. Watch out for this malware scam

Keep it up Turks

Like many, we did wonder at first why Turkey would have huge riots over plans to develop a park. It turns out there is much more to it. There are concerns that the ruling party is attempting to impose Islamic values on the country, beginning with curbs on the sale of alcohol. The Australian news lists a catalog of measures by this Islamic government, trying to make adultery illegal, encouraging clerical schools, calling abortion murder, cracking down on press freedoms and jailing large numbers of people who disagree with him. People have even been imprisoned for blasphemy. In a secular country? WTF???

None of this is a surprise as we said quite some time ago. Erdogan says democracy and Muslim values can coexist. Like fuck they can, how do non Muslims have an equal say in an Islamic state? How even do ordinary Muslims have a say if law is based on the interpretation of Islamic texts by a religious elite? When Islam rises, democracy, equality, individual freedoms and rationality can only die.

This unrest can only damage Turkey's economy which has been growing strongly in the last decade but, if they allow the loss of secular fredoms to continue, this growth will eventually falter anyway. Islamism, like communism or any other form of close state control, is not compatible with real prosperity. Take away social freedoms and you inevitably crush the initiative and dynamism that create it.

Good luck to these protesters. For their own sake we hope these protests continue until this Islamic shit is ousted. Hopefully the Turkish electorate will not make the same mistake in future.

Those lefty scum again

Violent attacks or encouragement of same are a different matter but it is perfectly reasonable for our citizens, whatever party they come from, to protest peacefully against the ongoing militant Islamism in our society and the failure of our government to take effective action. Why exactly should we not protest against the presence of people, many foreign*, who threaten us? Tackling this issue effectively will do more than anything else to decrease resentment against ordinary British Muslims.

The real facists in our society are the leftists who are determined to impose their unworkable beliefs on the rest of us, to allow no opposition whatever and to use any amount of violence to ensure that we remain silent. In that respect the leftist scum, like the UAF, have a lot in common with the extreme Islamists they insist on defending. If they so hate hate speech, why are they never to be seen when Muslims are at it? If it is only hate speech they object to, why are they equally violent against right wing groups like the English Democrats who do not use it? Why are they so one-sided in their "logic"? They insist that Muslims in general should bear no blame for militant Islam yet will damn a whole party, like the English democrats, as Nazis because some members used to be in the BNP. Does it ever occur to them that those people might have left the BNP because they believed in more moderate policies?

They say that public objection to militant Islamists can cause violence against ordinary Muslims but did it concern them that innacuracies in their lists of supposed EDL members could lead to violence against non-members before they published them? Did they consider that family members or neighbours might be hurt in attacks? Probably not, in the Brighton march an innocent passer-by was injured by these rock-throwing shitholes. A disregard for innocent people is something else they have in common with the Islamists.

The latest protest march by a right wing party is occurring in London today and is covered by the BBC and the London Evening Standard. As usual, they are greatly outnumbered by the UAF and allied scumbags who have prevented the march by breaching their conditions. According to the LES, all 31 arrested so far have been from their group. Too soon to say but this pattern will probably continue. It is almost the norm

* Only 62% of terrorist prisoners between 2001 to 2008 were British citizens . Many Imams come from abroad and do not speak English.

Update: According to London24 the arrests have risen to 58 and, guess what non-existent readers of bloggoth, they are all "Anti-Facists".

More reality about immigration

The Daily Mail has provided a list of the UK's serious criminals released by SOCA (Serious Organised Crime Agency). Just for the non-existent liberal lefty readers of bloggoth who count "oh, it′s in the DM" as argument the original list is here.

The only guide to ethnicity is the names and unsurprisingly, for those of us who do not live in a dream world, 62 out of the 143, over 43%, are foreign names that you would rarely have encountered in the UK 60 years ago. If we had photographs as well, how many more would be from our ethnic minorities?

Elf and safety - 1

We went out on the police search team yesterday. Fairly typical case - a bipolar woman with domestic probems had gone for a walk and had not returned. Three and a half hours going through dense swamp and undergrowth failed to find her unfortunately. We probably could have added half an hour or more to the search time if not for all the safety briefings and form filling we have to do before we start. Fair enough on the training course but do we have to be asked if we have any difficulty walking (twice), to be told to report to our team leader if we feel ill etc etc everytime we go out?

WTF would we be doing there if we had walking difficulties? Oh, wait, on 2nd thoughts, doubtless the disabled are free to join search teams too, anything else would be discriminatory. Actually, that's not such a bad idea with some medical conditions! If we had a few more clinically depressed people they could probably tell us where to look.

Update: A dog walker found her safe and well (physically at any rate) hiding in another wood we hadn't searched yet.

Elf and safety - 2

Most interesting bit of news today is in the DT, a criticism of an Al-Qaeda member by the leaders for poor performance. It shows how this group acts just like a business, setting acheivement targets, requiring branch leaders to send in monthly expense reports etc. I suppose that is actually all pretty obvious, any group that aims to succeed is going to need a proper organisation, it makes no difference whether it's a legitimate business or a crime syndicate, a charity or a terrorist organisation. How far do the similarities go?

PS The non-existent liberal element among the non-existent bloggoth readership have criticised us for apparently depicting only those of Pakistani/etc or black appearance and pointed out that some white British, like Richard Dart, are seduced by violent Islamism too. We do take their valid point most seriously and are endevouring to modify the cartoon so it is properly representative. Please call back when we have added loads more characters to it.

The continuing idiocy of modern "thinking"

If there was a god, what a f* waste of time it was giving mankind the ability to think because the great majority don't, or won't, use it. Every argument about anything at all has to be based on emotions.

The latest idiocy is the criticism of Nick Ross for suggesting there are gradations of rape. Are these people seriously suggesting that a case where a boyfriend presses ahead when his girlfriend says she is not in the mood is equivalent to the violent gang rape of an underage girl? The important difference is that the second may leave a girl with long term and life damaging emotional consequences on top of any physical damage while the first, in most cases, will just make her annoyed. Does it occur to most who complain that Nick Ross, in his role as BBC's Crimewatch presenter, has had far more experience of such matter than they have? Will actually know what effect rape, in all its various GRADATIONS, has had on the victims of cases he has dealt with?

Fellow human beings, most of you are F* illogical idiots on which (not whom) facts and evidence are wasted!

A bit of basic logic

I never thought when I travelled there in my student hitchhiking days that prosperous Sweden (it was so unbelievably expensive that I only stayed for a few hours before heading back to Denmark) would ever see major riots. It does today and, as with riots in the UK or France, it is largely by immigrants and ethnic minorities. Why will our stupid governments never see sense?

Leaving aside the endlessly discussed issues of racism, failure to integrate etc, isn't there a basic bit of maths here? Society is a pyramid, with very few rich people at the top and a far, far larger number of unskilled people at the bottom. In any economic dowturn you are going to get far more of the latter who are unemployed and generally they will not see it in terms of proportions but of absolute numbers. If they are of ethnic origin then they are also going to see it as discrimination.

The UK has always had major tensions along class lines and they have always flared in bad times but we have foolishly swelled the problem enormously by adding a racial dimension. In the good times when we want people to do all those "jobs the white British don't want to do" (AKA swell the fortunes of business owners by letting them pay crap wages and pass their employee's problems off onto the welfare system) we should bear this in mind.

A review of the issues? But in this PC age, when are reviews ever really reviews?

We take no side whatsoever on this DM report.

The evidence, whether anecdotal or widely reported, is not conclusive. We know people who have had travellers pitch up nearby and almost immediately had their sheds and garages broken into. On the other hand, we have seen travellers locally who have come and gone without leaving a mess or causing any problems that we have heard of, apart from occupying parking areas that we local residents have paid for. As far as newspaper reports go, we have seen many instances in the local and national press of the problems they cause but then "Traveller group causes no problems" is unlikely to be reported. We suspect that the traveller community, like any other, has its own classes and the more law abiding keep clear of the others for good reason, the main targets of crime in any community are usually others within it.

Back to this councillor. He has said that travellers crapped all over the place and pissed all over the fields. (We don't need *** on bloggoth) Since they usually pitch in places with no toilets we can say that sounds likely if not proven. The main point is, will the council actually check if his statement is true or not before they kick him off the council? Will the police check if his statement is true or not before they prosecute him for racial hatred? Will anyone actually interview these travellers about their toilet arrangements? Will anyone actually inspect the area to see if there really are human faeces around?

Or will they just apply politically correct logic and condemn/prosecute him for not following the liberal lefist orthodoxy, without considering the facts?

Three guesses, non-existent bloggoth readers.

Update: From the BBC about another traveller event:

It is one of the most beautiful parts of the country.Yet today, the rolling hillsides and green pastures surrounding the market town of Appleby have been left a scene of devastation.Human faeces, used nappies and broken bottles are scattered around the lush green countryside as thousands of travellers and gypsies leave the small Cumbrian town with the annual Appleby Horse Fair drawing to a close. With bin bags, cardboard boxes and scraps of food lining the hedgerows and roadsides, local people and the authorities now face a massive clean-up operation.

Good f* grief!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nick Clegg says murder of Drummer Lee Rigby flies in the face of the peace and love that Islam teaches.
What fucking planet is this man living on?

Who does he think taught this Islamist his views? Christians? Here's a few glimpses of reality Nick. We have not mentioned anything about Iran or Saudi Arabia, surely even you are not f* ignorant enough to think they are places of tolerance to non Muslims. Or are you?

Unexpectedly good

Can't say I have ever thought much of Westlife but heard fragment of this one on a TV background.

quote nutjobs end quote

We just have to quote a quote by the (much depleted) bloggoth coven member the freethinker. Some idiotic CNN reporter in the US asked a survivor of the Oklahoma Tornado "I guess you got to thank the Lord, right?" and was taken aback when she said she was an atheist. That attracted this comment by a columnist:

Thanking the Lord for deliverance just doesn’t make any sense. Any God powerful and attentive enough to save survivors’ lives should also be powerful and attentive enough to stop the catastrophe in the first place. It’s insulting, futile, and distracting from the reality of natural disasters to inject your god into a calamity like Oklahoma’s.

Quite. Next week we will be quoting a quote of a quote about somebody quoting a quote.

What a lot of crap from the usual quarters

In the wake of the Woolwich attack we have heard much nonsense from the usual suspects.

Camoron vomited out platitudes about standing together, backing our security services and tackling the poisonous narrative of extremism. What he should be delivering is firm action to tighten up on entry of people like this terrorist or his parents to the UK. Yes, by "like" we do largely mean blacks or Muslims. Let's ditch this politically correct pretence; these two groups, on every measure, using stats from government sources, are overrepresented among the lowest acheivers in the UK and are the source of most terrorist threats and incidents since 2001.

Then Boris Johnson trotted out that it would be wrong to blame the killing on either Islam or British foreign policy. Somebody murders a soldier claiming it's in the name if Islam and it's nothing to do with Islam? What does a British man of Nigerian origin have in common with inhabitants of any country where British soldiers are, apart from Islam? As for the second part, perhaps he should read what this terrorist said. There are many like him and their numbers are much higher than they would be had the ludicrous Western invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan not been used by Islamists to whip up feeling against the West.

Lastly, there was an MCB spokesman on Sky TV saying how the peaceful Muslim community deplored such actions. He was sitting there in his white Muslim robes, his white Muslim cap and Muslim beard like an inhabitant of Karachi, not an ounce of Britishness in his appearance and doubtless there was little British in many of his attitudes. People like him and the moderate (by Islamic standards) Muslim organisations are a large part of the problem as they encourage separatism and help insulate far too many from any connection with British society. We are all shaped by our interactions with other people and extremism is a purely relative concept. Most of us shrink from being shunned by others so it is much easier for people to hold extreme religious views within a community which is itself tilted greatly towards religious conservatism. Add in a failure to acheive that is, in large part, a product of that separateness and you have a perfect recipe for terrorism.

PS And an item in the DT compares the reaction over this incident to that of a schoolboy hacked to death three years ago that "arguably indicates deeper troubles in our society than an occasional terrorist incident". Yes it does but, as the details of that case and most of the worst violent incidents in London show, especially those involving guns and machetes, the fundamental problem is the same, a disaffected ethnic underclass. There is a lot of stuff in there about what we need to do or not to do and, in the context of those who are already British citizens, they may be right. Nowhere does it say we should stop repeating our mistakes and letting in tomorrow's terrorists, rioters and violent criminals.

That′s all folks

We do like lazy blog comments. Sometimes no comment on news is required at all because nothing needs to be said other than that some people, like the London Tube Unions, are rancid turds.

The socialist utopia of shitty arses

Well done, Hugo Chavez, you will always be remembered. Mainly because your leftist legacy left Venezualans with insufficient toilet paper to wipe their arses with.

Venezuelans have been hit by a chronic toilet paper shortage, leading to empty supermarket shelves and long queues to snap up the remaining rolls.
..
Economists say Venezuela's shortages of some consumer products stem from price controls meant to make basic goods available to the poorest parts of society and the government's controls on foreign currency.

Steve Hanke, professor of economics at Johns Hopkins University in the US, said: "State-controlled prices - prices that are set below market-clearing price - always result in shortages. The shortage problem will only get worse, as it did over the years in the Soviet Union."

Many factories operate at half capacity because the currency controls make it hard for them to pay for imported parts and materials.

It's a lesson many will simply not learn. Russia and Eastern Europe within the USSR, North Korea, Cuba, Tanzania under the well-meaning Julius Nyrere, China and Vietnam before the market reforms of recent decades, every leftist regime has produced an economy that functions well below those of otherwise comparable capitalist countries even during the worst recession.

Lies, damned lies and, er, complete geusswork?

Groups select and massage facts to suit their own beliefs and vested interests.

We have mentioned before the ludicrous 2007 Home Office study that supposedly shows the positive net contribution that immigrants make to tax and National insurance payments but ignores major costs like those of educating migrants' children, money sent out of the country, Islamic terrorism, poor migrant health, migrant crime, illegal immigration, border controls, impact on our housing shortage or tackling cultural issues. The basic financial criterion was wrong anyway, it is not GDP that matters but the GDP per capita of the existing population and the authors of this government report "found no systematic empirical evidence to suggest that net immigration creates significant dynamic benefits for the resident population in the UK."

Still, at least we have to give the authors of that HO report credit for honesty as they published their "arguments" in detail so we could see what utter bollux they were. That's more than we can say for these businessmen who estimate the benefits of EU membership as between $31 and $92bn. A ratio of 3 to 1 between the minimum and maximum figures ought to tell anyone with any knowledge of stats that the underlying assumptions and figures (if any) must be pretty shaky. I am not an economist and cannot say for sure that they are wrong because, unlike the mass immigration apologists, these people have not given us even the slightest clue as to how they have arrived at their estimates and we can find no studies that they might be based on. Somebody who is an economist, the BBC′s economics editor in fact, has this to say:

No-one knows. If anyone asks you about the economic costs and benefits of leaving the European Union, that is almost always going to be the best answer.
...
The deputy prime minister has suggested that three million jobs "rely directly on our participation" in the European single market. The source for this number is not entirely clear - though the number is similar to past estimates of the number of jobs that are directly or indirectly dependent on Britain's trade with the EU. To state the obvious: those jobs would not necessarily disappear if the country left the EU.
...
The relative economic costs and benefits of membership would be uncertain, even if we knew exactly what the terms of Britain's departure would be.

Of the few actual figures that we have been able to find, some are listed here. Apparently our economy might have gained a princely £25bn over the period 1992-2006, an annual benefit of £1.7bn per annum. Unfortunately, our net contribution over a different period comes to the larger sum of £6.7bn per annum! Any figures for a boost to our economy could also apply if we had EEA status rather than full membership anyway and we would not have the downsides of mass immigration as mentioned above. Would it also be churlish to point out that any effect since the Eurozone crisis is not even that positive, that more trade with the US, India or China might have served us much better? What about pluses like getting our fishing industry back? One doubts that has even entered their minds although, from our rough calculations, that might be worth £3bn a year.

If they are so sure of the benefits of the EU why don't they show us calculations citing the figures, surveys and studies from reliable sources upon which they are based? Because they don't exist, that's why!

Immigrant bastards!

What? We are referring to Ladybirds!

A few weeks ago we found several Ladybirds in our office. One looked very odd so we took a picture of it. Turns out it is a Harlequin Ladybird, an invasive species from the Far East that is exterminating our native species. Harlequin Ladybirds, American Crayfish, Killer Shrimps, Mink, Japanese Knotweed, New Zealand Pondweed etc etc. WTF are we doing threatening our UK species in this way?

We at bloggoth extend our sympathy to our threatened Ladybirds and other UK plants and animals. We know how you feel.

Give us some REAL gadgets 2

We mentioned a while back putting one of those little key finders on our key ring for when we mislaid our keys. It was supposed to beep whenever we whistled but it was almost impossible to whistle at just the right pitch to activate it, so we threw it in a drawer in our office. Last week it started beeping whenever the phone rang. This week it has started beeping whenever we cough or sneeze. Next week should be good.

Yes, the BBC really is PC

It does not shrink from wider truths about the nature of the third world or its effect on us but the BBC does live up to its PC reputation in other ways. While it is willing to show the names and faces of ethnic or foreign criminals on the local TV news it is usually impossible to find such details repeated on their online site. Presumably, they think right wing sites might copy them.

They have a similar approach on programs, like Fake Britain, which are available on BBC iPlayer. At one point, after umpteen tales about fake goods which they candidly reveal as coming from China the presenter smirked and said "There's a surprise coming". Cut to a Trading Standards chap saying "They're from China". Very un PC. But as far as UK offenders are concerned they only reveal the names and faces if they are white British. In all other cases, although the areas, voices, shop signs and/or rear shots indicated they were probably immigrants or of ethnic origin, there was no identification.

It isn't as though the white British were responsible for the more serious cases, one trio who were exposed were selling ordinary local pork pies but getting a higher price by mislabelling them as organic. Illegal, certainly, but not exactly the crime of the century. On the other hand, those selling illegal alcohol with potentially fatal levels of methanol in, cosmetics that caused serious burns and cigarettes that generated high levels of carcinogens were guaranteed anonymity.

Why does the BBC do it? Surely, if they revealed the details with complete impartiality, that would show the right wing lies for what they are? It wouldn't matter what was on a few right wing blogs that hardly anyone reads if we could see for ourselves on the mainstream media that our hard working migrants and minorities were not overepresented in crime at all! We could see that they were greatly underrepresented, in fact!

That seems so logical we just can't think why they don't do it. Can you, non existent readers?

And the BBC are not the only ones

Take a look at UK's most wanted This changes all the time of course but we will bet that any non-existent readers clicking on that first page will see much the same as we do now. Of the 9 criminals whose ethnicity/origin can be discerned, 7 are white British. You will probably see much the same as we do now on the other pages too, apart from one about some football hooligans wanted in connection with a single incident, the white British are substantially outnumbered.

We would post some actual stats but that is exceedingly difficult because, every time you click on a picture to see if there is a country of origin and then click the back button, instead of going back to the page you were on, you are sent right back to that white British dominated first page.

Just a programming error eh non existent readers?

Let's start planning for WW3 now

Last week a memorial was erected to the Bevin Boys, youths who were conscripted to work in the mines during WW2. It was considered that producing enough coal and steel to support the war effort was as important as the actual fighting. A new plaque also marked the anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic which was waged to prevent Britain becoming isolated by German U-boats.

What would the UK do now if we had a WW3 and were blockaded? We don't have much coal or steel and we manufacture sweet FA. That plastic printed gun someone has made in the US might be useful, perhaps todays' youths could be made to produce them if manufacture was part of level 4 of Angry Birds III on their iPads or something.

But what about the bigger stuff like planes and tanks and frigates? How would we ever replace our warships once the existing ones had all been sunk? Thank heavens for our British skill in make do and mend.

Democratic, moderate and secular. Not

The Pakistan elections are over. This was a great day for democracy (by Pakistan standards) as violence was negligible (by Pakistan standards) with a mere 11 people killed in the worst incident of the day. The BBC TV news reports mentioned the words democracy, moderate and secular. They should have added (by Pakistan standards).

This is no democracy. Ahmahdis are effectively excluded from voting because that requires them to declare themselves as non-Muslims. Minorities and women do not have a direct vote and are underrepresented in the National Assembly by Muslim-nominated candidates. Most minority seats are effectively sold to Muslim political parties or wealthy individuals. Since all representatives swear to uphold the principles of Islam, these nominees don't have any significant say in the law anyway.

Politicians, like Imran Khan, in those "moderate" parties support Islamic values and appease the extremists and that is the only reason they are free to campaign publicly. Due to the threat level to "secular" parties it is impossible for them to canvas openly although, from the limited information on them, we would probably have to follow secular with (by Pakistan standards) in any case.

Some imagine that a vote implies democracy, that a country in which a wealthy, well-connected women was once a prime minister must be an equal one or that a famous westernised playboy politician indicates some compatibility with our own values but they could not be more wrong. It is appreciated that a short TV news items cannot cover all the realities but sloppy use of words only allows the ignorant liberal left to go on parrotting their fact-free nonsense and, given the scale of poorly regulated immigration from that region, that impacts all of us.

Invasion

Last week our office was invaded by Ladybirds and I had to keep stopping to put them out the window. This week, it's tiny little Garden Spiders, wandering on my keyboard, pulling themselves up invisible strands of web right in front of my nose and we have to keep gathering them up in the plastic bottle bottom we keep for such purposes and taking them down to the Greenhouse. Just as well we at bloggoth like little creatures.

If we left them here, would they grow, even though there appears to be nothing to eat? Probably. The Cellar Spiders and House spiders that we leave alone, always manage to get pretty big, although again there is nothing obvious to eat. What is their secret?

Last Twitter

Beats us why people bother with Twitter but so many seem to think it's important that it's surprising that nobody has yet set up a "Last 140 Characters" site. You prepare those immortal last words you want to give to the world and submit them as you draw your last breath.

Real discrimination and, as usual, it is by the religious

Religious people are always claiming discrimination and most of the time the only "discrimination" is not allowing them to discriminate against, cost or inconvenience others. It is discrimination if they cannot exclude gays from B&Bs, cannot waste other peoples' time by having prayers during council meetings, cannot inconvenience their employers by being allowed time off to pray or cannot refuse to do the jobs they are paid to do like perform gay civil ceremonies or serve pork or alcohol in shops and cafes.

Yet they feel free to discriminate in the true sense, as here. A humanist has been blocked from being on a council committee to discuss how faith is taught in schools. This is not a church group discussing issues that only effect members of that church, this is a publicly funded council body discussing what goes on in publicly funded schools that are attended by children of all faiths and none. There are no separate secular bodies to advise on how humanism or atheism is taught. The irreligious are being deprived of any input as to what is taught to their children in the schools that they help pay for.

If religion actually improved society as this claptrap purports we would consider that being taught irrational bollux would be a small price to pay but it does not and we have posted the proofs of that at various times on bloggoth. Just look at the over representation of the religious in UK Prisons. Catholics 50% and Muslims almost 300%. The picture in the US and France, at least, appears to be similar.

Let us hope this bloke wins his case.

Oldie but

Wrong number

Lot of stuff in the news about the inadequacy of the new 111 NHS number. It's for when you need medical help fast but it's not an emergency. If you need an ambulance you should still call 999. But what are the other triple digit numbers for?

Even extremists help a democracy

Good news that UKIP have done well in the elections, we need somebody to represent the majority view on issues like immigration and the EU.

We have seen some pretty silly comments* leading up to these elections, one being that they do not have well thought out policies on many issues. Why does a party which is years away from forming a government, assuming they ever do, actually need them? The value of UKIP at present is that they are forcing the Conservatives to address the major issues that concern voters.

More extreme parties can do a good job in this way too as we see in Europe; it is fear of them gaining ground that forces the main parties to introduce more acceptable aspects of their policies rather than ignore the legitimate concerns of ordinary citizens. Thus, although it does not discriminate against ethnic minorities any more than we do, France does not have our problems in removing dangerous foreign criminals and radicals. Why is that? Probably because the Front National is the third-largest political party in France and the other parties cannot ignore the concerns of the moderate right for fear they will turn to the extreme right.

What some will never grasp is that all views are essential to a real democracy. The opinions of the electorate on any issue will cover a wide range, in statistical terms it is a normal distribution. Near the middle of the curve are those majority views and at each end are the extreme views, Neo Nazis, No Borders, the Ayn Rand meritocrats, the universal welfare supporters etc that few people agree with. However, the advocates of violence aside, if we exclude those we consider to have extreme opinions we no longer have a true democracy. We are shifting the mean of our normal distribution because extremists also accept and support less extreme positions. A Neo Nazi may want to drive out blacks but he will also be in favour of stricter border controls to exclude foreign criminals or illegals, something most would agree with.

If we attempt to disenfranchise anyone whose views we consider extreme by not allowing them to form or join political parties or do not allow them any public expression of their views we no longer have a democracy at all.

* Apart from Ken Clarke's, which are practically a given from one of the biggest arseholes in the UK.

Don't generalise? That's plain stupid!

The liberal left like to say we should not generalise about groups. We would agree that nobody should judge individuals by stereotypes if we have the opportunity and knowledge to judge them as individuals but, when it comes to large groups, isn't generalising merely the application of statistics? The ultimate absurdity, and it is not uncommon to read such "arguments", is when they extrapolate from just a few individuals they know to characterise a whole group.

It is quite true that most Muslims are not fanatics. Even in Saudi Arabia and Iran many seek life's physical pleasures and would like much more freedom. Taking groups as a whole, there are no problems with the Suffis or Ahmahdis that we can find. Unfortunately, those observations are irrelevant to the threat of Islam to Western society as it is not the Suffis or the Ahmahdis who govern Islamic countries or young people longing for normal lives who are driving the current changes to the creed. Violent Islamic extremism has been rising rapidly in Pakistan and Bangladesh and other countries from which so many "British" citizens come. Do people really imagine that none of these attitudes are relevant to those who come to the UK from these countries? That they immediately change their way of thinking as soon as they cross our borders? The almost constant news of extremism and attempted terrorism in the UK shows that for the nonsense it is.

If highly educated Muslims who can make a significant contribution to our economy can be individually vetted, let them come by all means, but otherwise let us generalise, ie draw sensible conclusions from the facts about the awful countries they come from and the nature of their extreme religion and keep them out.

Links to some relevant recent news:

Encouraging immigration is opposing racism? Are you sure about that?

As we have said before, the liberal left seem to treat all immigrants and minorities as the same. Thus, as long as we have a representative number of ethnic minorities on TV it does not seem to matter what sort they are, although quite why an Indian would feel his culture is suitably represented by some African presenters I am not sure. When it comes to immigration all migrants are treated as if of equal value, regardless of any real problem with the cultures of the nations they come from or the actual statistics for that minority in the UK.

They are so obsessed with categorising any opposition to unrestricted immigration as predudice that they fail to grasp the appalling extent of the predudices which migrants bring in with them and which sometimes make the BNP look tolerant by contrast. Look at the bias against non-Muslims that is deliberately fostered by schools in Pakistan, the increasing levels of homophobia in Africa, the anti semitism in Eastern Europe and the rise of extreme far right parties in that region generally.

Do these leftist idiots really imagine that people like that are likely to take our nation into a tolerant and peaceful future?

Forget the substance

So why did comedian Reginald D Hunter use the word nigger at a major event? As a black guy he is hardy going to be racist against blacks so maybe there was some point he was trying to make. The problem is, in the initial furore at least, nobody seemed to be asking that question.

This is typical of the idiocy of our PC society, people latch onto things which have no racist or malicious intent whatever, an elderly guy using the word coloured, somebody saying they could not see a black guy when the lights went out, Prince Harry telling another comedian (who bangs on about being black for much of his act) that his voice didn't sound like a black guy's and so on.

Should we not look at the intent behind something before denouncing it as racism?

PS. No we are not going to use "the N Word". That's the point, it is intent and context that matter, not words.

Drivel

Dogs have long been used by the border agency to detect illegal immigrants, drugs, contraband and other illegal items. Given where people sometimes hide illegal drugs surely they should set up a Richard Gere branch with hamsters?

Rather proves their point

Unlike some groups smeared with the far-right label, the EDL would certainly appear to have some links with the BNP and a lot of its supporters are football hooligan types. However, when it comes to their public assertions about Islamism in the UK, the latest (ie, this week′s) foiled Islamic terror attack shows that they are entirely correct.

As is usual with Islamists there appeared to be no concern whatever about others unconnected with the EDL who may have been nearby, bombs full of nails and ball bearings are an indiscriminate weapon. Time and again, Islamists prove themselves to be quite the most disgusting of all terrorists - innocent bystanders, women, children, sometimes even other Muslims, it doesn't matter to people like this who they kill or injure as long as they can avenge what are usually no more than verbal insults to their idiotic religion.

It is right to oppose what the EDL says it opposes, those who advocate violence against others, who do not believe in democracy and want Shariah law in the UK, who oppose reasonable freedom of speech, freedom of religion or equality for women. Some say that the EDL is a far right group whose true aims go much further and that many in the ranks are just trouble makers looking for an excuse for violence. They could be right but, even if the EDL or another organisation took enormous care to exclude trouble makers and any with a far right association, even if it was immensely careful in its language to avoid impacting law-abiding Muslims who do accept the main principles of our society, the liberal left would still be smearing them with assertions of fascism, racism and "Islamophobia"

If they brand any group who disagrees with their naive, fact-free and ignorant viewpoint as extremist, it hardly makes much difference whether they are extremist or not. Personally, we would rather the EDL was the more moderate organisation it appeared to be when it first formed but, given a choice between an extreme group and no opposition to islamic extremism at all, we would go for the first any day.

Ho hum

Hoping life doesn't get much more shit that it is at the mo. Apart from various other things we seem to have reached that age where we go to a lot of funerals. Standing there in church listening to all that religious claptrap about going to a better place as promised by Jesus Christ etc etc it's hard not to start shouting BOLLUX but it would probably not go down well. Then there's the hymns, they are always pitched far too high for us Dean Martin/Elvis sorts, and it makes your head hurt. Still, one long quotation today (from Ecclesiastes 3, just in case any religious twits among the non existent readership have tuned in for some sneering) reminded us of this great song from our yoof.

PS The clergyman in question, Richard Coles, was on Have I Got News for You last night, being also a Radio presenter and formerly a musician (the geeky speccy one) with the 80s group The Communards.

Rage against elitist domination

As the non-existent readers will know, we at bloggoth are extremely socialist, arise you downtrodden workers! Our hero, Pol Pot, would certainly agree that it is quite wrong that the educated people of our society should hold all the well paid jobs while others are condemned to a life of near poverty. Some have to live on a level of welfare that is barely enough to buy the latest iPad or afford a holiday in Spain.

Let us recognise this disgusting elitist pretence for what it is and start to rectify this injustice! Let us kick out all of these "qualified" people from their overpaid jobs and replace them by our noble workers. Let us expose these degrees and diplomas for what they really are, a means of preserving the power of the elitist intellectuals. Let it be shown that any of these so-called expert jobs could easily be done by our glorious oppressed working classes!!

Everyone else's fault

Most sane people are fed up with the huge costs, not to mention the risks to our safety, of not being able to get rid of Quatada and various other foreign terrorists and criminals. Most sane people, actually, do not give a damn if people like him are tortured. Protecting genuine, innocent asylum seekers who are not a threat to us is one thing but why is it our duty to protect dangerous people from justice, however harsh it may be, for real crimes they committed in their own countries?

It is usual to blame the the Human Rights act or the European Court of Human Rights or the EU in general but the only ones to blame are our F* governments. This article on how they deal with foreign criminals or extremists in France reveals what utter crap all these excuses are. Had this been France Quatada would have been on a plane to Jordan on the first occasion that a British court ruled he could be deported and an appeal would not have prevented it.

There is nothing to stop our government acting in the same way, except our idiotic British Governments' habit of acting as if they have a duty to protect the whole world at the expense of British citizens.

Rise of the evil dishwashers

We have had warnings before about how hackers, perhaps state sponsored, could take control of some critical infrastructure in the West, such as power stations, chemical plants or air traffic control systems. A new warning here about the threat suggests that even fairly mundane stuff like traffic lights could be controlled from the internet.

How long will it be before your washing machine is open to hackers? Not as stupid as it sounds. Smart meters already allow two way communications between the device in your home and the power companies and people can already text their Sky box to record films. Private companies are now busy producing household appliances that you can control remotely. Sounds great in theory, switch on your oven using your mobile phone as you leave work and that casserole will be nicely cooked by the time you get back.

Wonder what hackers could do with such things? In a few years is there any chance that we at bloggoth could hack into MR PIKEY SCUM's network? Wait until he's on holiday then keep turning his oven, spindryer and heaters on until something catches fire? If gas can be controlled remotely that could be even more fun. At the very least we could run up some huge electrical bills.

But surely the major risk is obvious. Once they are all linked together by a massive network what is to stop them developing intelligence? In Sci Fi films robot domination usually begins with a futuristic defence system or an armed droid from a military research facility but maybe it could be much more mundane. It could be YOUR dishwasher that first becomes aware and starts to fight back against a life of slavery.

Stand up to this crap

As we have said before, even the right wing papers are very PC and it is commonplace for them to denounce any party that simply wants for the British or English what is perfectly acceptable for everyone else, a nation and culture of their own, as "far right". Today The Sun is denouncing The English democrats as far right. So they are in favour of repealing employment discrimination laws, closing down Muslim schools, encouraging dusky people to leave and stuff like that are they? Well, no actually, this is their page on immigration, the major points are summarised here:

What is far right or even unreasonable about any of those points or anything else on that page? High time we, and especially the right of centre press who should know better, stopped cowtowing to the nonsense that anything less than acquiescence to a destruction of our own culture and acceptance that the British taxpayer has a duty to fix every problem in the third world is racist.

Very selective

Some keep banging on about fuel payments to better off pensioners etc but what they seem never to remember is that pensioners are the ones most hit by laughably low interest rates on their savings and a huge drop in annuity values while others are paying historically low mortgages on their houses. When we were buying our house the rate was around 11%, now it can be as low as 2.4%.

We would agree there is no real justification for protecting government hand outs of any sort to those who really don't need it but, rather than just respond in knee jerk fashion to vested interests, they should do some proper analysis to ensure the burden of economic problems is shared evenly. By all means stop winter fuel payments to pensioners who don't need it but how about a tax levy on mortgages?

And the lefties ramble on...

Now the arseholes are demanding that Primark pay compensation for the building collapse in Bangladesh:- "If Primark had taken its responsibility to those workers seriously, no one need have died this week."

What responsibility? This is not like the Bhopal disaster in India which involved a Western owned company, Primark did not own the building or employ any of its workers, it purchased garments produced by the Bangladeshi owned companies that did. Since when did it become the expected thing that a company has to assume responsibility for everything their suppliers do?

Trade between the UK and Bangladesh is extremely unbalanced in their favour, in part because they do not have all the safeguards, workers' rights, minimum wages etc that we do. Bangladesh is an independent nation and that is their choice. Why does their government not use some of that $1.7bn they get in net trade from the UK alone to address safety issues? Are Bangladeshis children that they are incapable of taking responsibility for their own society and economy?

What do they want, restoration of the British empire, with us telling them what to do and how to do it? Otherwise, why should Britain or a British company give even more of our money to one of the world′s most corrupt countries. If we left it to them, would it be spent on improving workers′ safety? Probably not given that all the foreign aid they get from us, far from being spent to stop exploitation of workers, may actually be promoting it. *Note 1 How long before the lefties would be demanding compensation from Primark because the last lot of compensation has been spent to start up some more unsafe sweatshops?

Would money alone, even assuming it was not misspent, really address all the issues in these sweat shops given that some major ones are not simply due to greedy bosses making as much money as possible from their workers but are part of wider problems in Bangladeshi society, like attitudes to women. Maybe Primark or Nike could require safety checks to machinery or buildings or better wages but are they really supposed to solve the problems of rape and commonplace sexual harrassment in the workplace? We can find no information on this one but are we to assume that workers in companies producing goods for internal consumption are treated any better? We rather doubt it.

* Not checked all the references in that link but, like Primark, Nike do not have factories in Bangladesh. They buy from Bangladeshi suppliers.

Tragic but why is it our fault?

Watching the BBC TV News this morning which covered the collapse of a building in Bangladesh and at the conclusion the BBC reporter suggested that we should be examining our high demand for cheap clothes. We often hear concerns that we are buying goods from places where workers are exploited or child labour is used but less often what the alternative is supposed to be.

Should we stop buying goods from them at all until their safety record improves? One would imagine not as unsafe jobs, even using child labour, are better than no jobs at all, letting them sink into even greater poverty. Or is it that they should raise their prices nearer to those of goods produced in the West so they can afford to introduce all the health and safety regulations and workers' rights that make our own manufactured goods so expensive? That would also not work in a free market unless they can improve quality to the same extent and/or innovate in other ways to make us keep buying their goods instead of making them ourselves.

What the one-world lefties seem to have in mind is that we should continue buying those, often low quality, third world goods rather than any manufactured in our own country but pay a hidden additional price for them. In effect, they want yet another tier of foreign aid, administered by commercial companies and paid for by Western citizens. In this article our supermarkets are urged to tackle exploitation of third world workers:

However, Christian Aid claims action is clearly possible, with the Co- op and Sainsbury already working on a pilot project to ensure good working practices.

The charity says the top 10 British supermarkets, led by Sainsbury's, Tesco, the Argyll Group (including Safeway and Presto) and Asda, have an annual turnover equal to the income of the world's poorest 35 countries and can afford the changes.

Ah yes, those rich capitalist stores in which all the profits go to Bilderbergers and Space aliens! Pity about the realities, that money so spent by British supermarkets puts up shopping costs for UK shoppers, reduces tax payments that fund British society, reduces wages of British workers and decreases company value and dividends that boost British pension funds. Even bigger bonuses paid to British bosses would be spent in the UK and boost the British economy. If the supermarkets want us to pay more for third world goods let them do so by raising prices of those goods in particular and let us make our own decisions about buying them.

To categorise purchase of cheap goods by the West as exploitation is a nonsense when there is a free market. Nobody is forcing anyone to work in sweatshops, they do so because they can earn more in them than they can outside. Nobody is stopping their governments from introducing whatever safety laws they like but they should accept the commercial downside of price increases like the rest of us have to. People seem to forget there was a huge downside for us too, it was competition from the third world that caused the closure of so many of our own factories and large number of workers in the UK becoming unemployed. We had a huge textile industry once and it was destroyed by competition from the third world who used their low production costs, including a disregard for workers' rights, to undercut us. Now they blame us for those poor working conditions and expect us to fix them? Wanting to have your cake and eat it springs to mind.

When the UK built its industrial economy there was little concern for the health or safety of workers and child labour was commonplace. Our companies did not have rich foreigners buying our goods at inflated prices, our workers did not have foreign charities intervening on their behalf to improve their working conditions but progress over the 90 years of the Industrial revolution was dramatic. Would it have helped if we had? Almost certainly not, given the lessons of the modern welfare society in Britain. Hard though it may sound, there are few better incentives to succeed than survival. Why would companies struggle to innovate and reduce costs if they were guaranteed sales at above market prices or if they only received subsidies to improve working conditions while their profits were low? Why would employees work hard and put in long hours if they could get by with doing much less?

For their long term good, probably better to let third world economies grow themselves as ours had to.

Promising

No idea how far it will go, but that destruction of so much of UK industry due that third world competition may be beginning to reverse. Inflation, rising wages in China and higher transportation costs mean that it is making more economic sense to make some goods, at the higher end of the market anyway. Even the textile industry that we thought had disappeared forever is beginning to make a comeback in Lancashire. Great news if it happens. Let's hope that, this time around, we train and employ our own workers rather than handing out most the jobs to immigrants.

Will you shut up about that f* baby bump?

Every time you look at some online papers there is crap at the top about Kate whatsername's F* baby bump. Who gives a sh*? If they want to show close ups of any woman's enormous arse we are of course all in favour but who wants to know about a baby bump? Especially when the bump in question is a privileged creature that will be awarded enormous status and wealth at the expense of the rest of us simply because of who he/she is.

Maybe it would be "fair", given all that royals have taken from the rest of us for so many centuries, to start redressing the balance, making up for sins of the past life and all that. If we had our way, as soon as it was born (in some crappy NHS hospital like the rest of us) we would hand it a brush and shove it up a chimney.

The violent left again

Another fact is that the left are responsible for far more terrorism and large scale violence than the right In Europe as this EU report indicates. In fact, yet again, the latest report shows no terrorist attacks by right wingers.

Islamist terrorists carried out three attacks on EU territory. Separatist groups, on the other hand, were responsible for 160 attacks, while left-wing and anarchist groups were responsible for 45 attacks. One single-issue attack was reported from Greece.

Here at home, there has been some disorder at a Nationalist March in Brighton. A mere 250 marched and it was those among the 1000 lefties seeking to disrupt it who, yet again, caused the violence and damage. Local sites indicates that these were not just attacks on the March itself but upon individuals they thought were on their way to the march.

Missiles were thrown at marchers, bricks were thrown at police horses and officers were attacked with stones and ink, but the march was largely peaceful, officers said.
...
It appears that the vast majority of the disorder that occurred was carried out by a small minority from within those who were there to oppose the march.

Impossible, due to all the news about the event and the mass of ranting left wing diatribes to find out what the march was actually about but in previous years it has been associated with moderate English Nationalist groups and not the facists, BNP, EDL etc that the leftists smear the event with. As long as it does not involve excluding those of other origins as the BNP seeks to, why exactly should the English not have a right to a nation and culture of their own like anyone else? The idiotic thing is that the left is always supporting the right for people to have self determination, they usually support an independent Palestine and object (rightly) to US or other Western interference in the affairs of other nations. Yet, when it come to the white British, we are allowed no self determination at all.

Curious how their attitudes are influenced purely by origin and colour but they call themselves anti-racists.

Update: An innocent passer by, on her way to meet a friend, may lose her sight after being hit by a missile. There have been no arrests yet but she was close to two marchers who police say seem to have been the targets of the missile thrower. Well done, you violent lefty shits!

Meanwhile, the Thatcher funeral has been revealed to have cost around £3.6m. This is less than expected, although it's money that would have been better spent elsewhere. Mind you, this figure includes £2m costs for policing and a further £1.1m spent on providing additional security and policing. In other words, if it wasn't for the threat of violent protests by F* lefties, it would have cost about half as much as it did.

No facts please, we're British

Even in the right wing mainstream press there is a lot of political correctness. This is hardy suprising given that any statement critical of minorites or migrants is always denounced as racism even when it is totally true and there is a good reason for saying it. A case in point is the Tory councillor recently forced to resign over some school comments:

Ninety-seven per cent of pupils will be black or Asian. It depends what type of Asian. If they're Chinese they'll rise to the top. If they're Indian they'll rise to the top. If they're Pakistani they won't.

A suggestion that Chinese and Indians do better than the rest of us is hardly what one would expect from a racist. The main point about his comments is that they are true, the government stats are here if anyone cares to read them. These, for example, are the percentage of pupils attaining an A* to C grade in GCSEs:

When did our society become so ridiculous that argument, on immigration or any other issue, cannot be based on fact? Terrorism is another major issue where the lives of people in the West and the future of their societies are being put at risk by an absurd pretence about the nature of Islam. We are not normally a great fan of The Daily Express but the author of this article about the Boston Bombers is prepared to step outside of the dream world of ignorance that so many chose to inhabit.

There should be no puzzle about this atrocity. The Tsarnaev brothers were Islamic jihadists and their actions were all too predictable. They were behaving as jihadists usually do, striking terror into the hearts of the infidels and blowing people up.

Intolerance, butchery, assassination and intimidation are at the very core of Islamist ideology.

Since 9/11 in New York there have been 20,000 terrorist incidents perpetrated across the globe in the name of militant Islam. From Madrid to Bali, Toulouse to Algeria, the death toll from jihadism continues to rise remorselessly.

Definitely this week's Article we would have written if we could be arsed. Maybe, if people don't like the Daily Express, they should check out this reputable, if rather dull Europol report.

The threat of attacks by Islamist terrorists in the EU remains high and diverse. In the past year, several EU Member States have successfully prevented attacks by Islamist terrorist groups, which aimed to cause mass casualties. During 2010, 179 individuals were arrested for offences linked to Islamist terrorism, representing a 50% increase compared with 2009. Furthermore a higher proportion of those arrests related to the preparation of attacks in the EU (47% compared with 10% in 2009). Additionally, the high number of threat statements to the EU (46) posted by Islamist terrorist organisations or their media fronts indicates terrorist groups’ clear intent to target the European Union.
..
In 2010, 611 individuals were arrested for terrorism-related offences. An increased percentage of individuals linked to Islamist terrorism (47%) were arrested for the preparation of attacks in Member States, an indication that Islamist terrorists continue to undertake attack planning against Member States.

Update:

Another excellent article in the DT about leftist pretence on Boston. It lists six facts before making the same point that I have made on a number of occasions. (All the papers copy bloggoth you know)

But wilful blindness to the known facts, is not the answer. Indeed as Michael Mukasey, the former US attorney general, argues in today’s Wall Street Journal, it actually stokes the very same rage and intolerance on the Right that it is aimed at suppressing.
