The ramblings of an old git

bloggoth Mission Statement:

We aim to never raise our sights above the gutter and preferably to stay much lower

Ramblings on the Olympics

The missus bloggoth was watching some sport thing again and it seems that the UK has the world's no 1 squash player! Typical that we should have the no 1 in a minority sport that nobody watches! We used to play squash and the obvious problem with it is that, due to the small court, you could never have more than a few dozen real life spectators. Rules it out as an olympic sport anyway!

That's an idea! Let's think up lots of Olympic sports that hardly anyone can watch, then the UK won't have to spend umpteen billions building venues just so we can get beaten by a lot of Americans, Kenyans, Jamaicans and Australians. More importantly, let's have sports that nobody, especially missus bloggoth, would want to watch even if they could, then we might actually get to see something else on TV while the Olympics is on.

We can think of a brilliant Olympic sport (we used to do this one too) - potholing! Here you see the televised potholing event reaching its exciting climax when a faint glimmer of light is seen in the dark waters. Which competitor will emerge from the final sump first? Spellbinding or what!

Another thing we could do if we want to win a bit more is to capitalise on our loveable British incompetence. There's been a lot of stuff about delays at immigration recently, so why not keep any foreigner with a chance of beating our athletes (ie all of them) hanging around at Heathrow passport control for a few weeks? Must be a few other ruses we could think up too.

PS We at bloggoth have muscles like that

The coming slums of London

We are darn glad we left South London 30 years ago when, a few spots like Brixton aside, it was mostly a white British city. Not any more. Places I knew well, like Streatham, are scarcely recognisable as being in Europe now and it has the dubious distinction of being the UK place with the highest number of burglaries. The successful primary school I went to, most of us passed the 11 plus in my class, is now 70% black and has high levels of pupils with special needs and requiring free school meals. The deluded love to talk about "the failures of British youth" that make "hard working immigrants" so necessary but what they never mention is that the least successful British youths, according to the government's own statistics, are not of white British origin.

It appears to have got even worse since the last time I went there about eight years ago. The landlords are to blame of course and the only one they choose to mention has a British name but, those details aside, more reality of immigration is revealed in The Guardian. Huge numbers of marginal, and often illegal, immigrants are crammed into premises meant to accomodate far fewer or are living illegally in sheds and outhouses in London, in contravention of all the planning laws and safety regulations. There is often inadequate sanitary provision, illegal gas and electric connections and the overcrowding, danger, mess and smell must be a nightmare for the legal residents of those areas.

Anyone who imagines that those who provide these illegal places, often at extortionate rents, are mostly white British is seriously deluded given that, over and over again, those found to be harbouring, employing and hiding illegal migrants are those of the same ethnicity as we saw in this recent report about illegal Indian migrants. Naturally, these migrants who deliberately threw away their passports so they could not easily be deported, but who now want to return home at our expense, are blaming our government for the fact that they cannot easily be deported.

How long will it be before parts of London start to resemble the slums of Dhaka, Mumbai, Mannilla or Nairobi? Doubtless, if our government does not spend huge sums of tax payers' money addressing the "marginalisation" of all these poor shed dwellers it will be our fault if London starts to resemble the Victorian era version.

PS Come to think of it, getting hundreds and hundreds of pounds a week from renting out a shed? We do apologise to any illegal migrants who read the above, it was all a misunderstanding. We at bloggoth love immigrants and we have two sheds we will happily rent out at £300 a week each. Bargain! You are welcome to crap on MR PIKEY SCUM's garden and eat his vegetables.

Take note Alistair Crowley

As we have said before, the overpaid London tube drivers are completely unecessary, given that the unmanned Copenhagen Metro is very safe and has been voted the world's best underground.

If anyone needs any more convincing they should check out this news. Nevada now allows self driven cars and Google's self drive car has been tested out on the streets of California, having covered 140,000 miles without any accident apart from a minor rear end shunt by a human driver. Now Boris is back in office he should start updating London's tubes to be purely automatic and get rid of those £50k+ door operatives. Then the fat ugly leader of the RMT can go back to Thelema Abbey and take up occultism again.

The PC fantasies that ignore mathematics

Nine "Asian" men, which nobody is surprised to know means one Afghan and the rest of Pakistani origin, have been convicted of street grooming underage white girls. According to the BBC TV news, this is one of a number of similar cases under investigation. To anyone with any knowledge of Islam and the contempt too many of their uneducated have for our women, this is clearly an issue involving race/religion.

Some reactions are here and at least one Muslim community leader has had the honesty to admit that attitudes towards white girls in the Pakistani community are a major part of the problem although there have been the usual PC denials from other quarters. This nonsense is to be expected from the likes of Keith Vaz, but, bizarrely, the police are making similar noises. On the BBC TV news we even had the assertion that this was not a racial issue with figures quoted that showed the majority of groomers are white males but what they did not mention, obviously, was that there are far more white males than "Asian" males. According to CEOP's report 28% of offenders since 2008 are "Asian" men compared to the 6% of people in England and Wales who describe themselves as Asian. Since "people" includes women and Asian includes the mostly fairly law abiding Chinese, Indian Hindus and Sikhs, the overrepresentation of the real culprits, Muslim men, is even higher. More figures are given here although it is not clear if this is the same report as it refers to street grooming and the previous link refers only to grooming and there are some fairly minor differences in the figures.

Vaz says we should not mention this because we open up a Pandora's box as far as race relations is concerned but, in the long term, what will open Pandora's box widest? Risking a few broken windows and EDL marches now for the slim possibility *Note 1 of getting some effective action to tackle this problem or just sweeping it under the carpet and letting our girls go on being abused until hatred of these people rises so high that nobody feels inclined to distinguish between them to the detriment of the decent ones?

The action we need most of all is to virtually halt immigration from places like Pakistan, Afghanistan and Somalia until they acquire a civilisation and Islam undergoes a major transition to be the moderate and tolerant religion that ignorant idiots claim it to be. That'll be a few hundred years at least, probably.

Note 1: Jack Straw had the guts to mention the problem after a similar case last year, one of a string of similar cases mainly involving white girls and Pakistani Muslim men and got the usual PC flack for it. No action that we can see.

The obvious used to be more original

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
`My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away".

Shelley's Ozymandius is a Great pome! (not a typo, we always call them pomes) but the idea that vain men strive to go down in history and soon get forgotten is not exactly an original concept anymore. As for the evil living after them and the good being interred with their bones - well, yawn! Shelley and Shakespeare had it easy and now that they and all the other great literary giants have said all the obvious and deep things, what is left for us (equally talented) bloggers to say today?

You wait until we at bloggoth have finished our time machine, we are going to pop back five hundred years and post all the brilliant things we would have posted if bloody Shelley and Shakespeare etc had not had the unfair advantage of living before we did. So what are you going to have in your plays when the brilliant bloggoth manuscripts and broadsheets have said it all already eh William?

Is the internet part of evolution?

Modern technology is blamed for a lot of things. There is an obesity epidemic because we watch sport on TV rather than play it and our children play video games rather than playing outdoors with each other. We develop aggressive attitudes because we interact through the anonymity of social media like Facebook and Twitter rather than face to face where our words are shaped by empathy and cowardice.

On the other hand, is any of this actually unnatural? Because of our intelligence we obviously go much further than other species do in shaping our environment but is it really different in kind? Animals shape their surroundings in various ways to aid their survival, they dig burrows, make nests from various objects, have symbiotic relationshisp with other species and use simple tools and these behavioural adaptations are as essential to their survival as their physical characteristics; we don't say that they are not part of evolution just because they are not visible on the body.

Maybe what man is doing is part of our journey towards a different species. Why is it necessary to have a memory when you can record notes on a memory stick or Google something? Why do we need legs when we can see the world through our screens? Why socialise in person when you can do it remotely or, even better, make up virtual reality friends to whom you are even more suited? As technology evolves, perhaps interacting directly with our nerves and brains, it may one day give us a better experience of reality than our limited senses ever did and more power via machinery than our limbs ever provided. Reproduction? Porn and some tubes should solve that one.

Then all those things we don't need, like legs, arms, memory, eyes, breasts or faces can wither away. Mankind may eventually end up as a lot of blobs in boxes surrounded by machines and computers. Sounds like fun.

What if god went barmy?

Just as well that god is infallible, or so the faithful say. Seems to us that if a god is supreme and he alone can determine your fate for all eternity then the definition of infallible, perfect, immutable, whatever, would be entirely up to him to determine. Back in 1940s Germany would you have argued about the meaning of Aryan supremecy with Adolph?

Only those of us who are who are doomed anyway, like atheists or those of us who regard the established religions as palpable nonsense, can query the nature of this fictitious creature. Who knows but that he might not have the equivalent of a nervous breakdown from living with the huge responsibility for the fate of the world? His must be a very distressing role generally, think of the tedium of listening to the daily prayers of the Arsebishop of Canterbury and Cliff Richard and millions like them. What about being omniscient? How dull is that, given that it includes knowing the plot of every single episode of Eastenders and far more about the 7.15pm Newbury to Paddington train than all the world's train spotters put together?

How come he never shows his face around the world anymore, parting seas, talking to his prophets, rumbling on top of mountains, demanding sacrifices of first born sons and striking men with unhealable boils? Maybe the poor old chap has withdrawn because he is cracking up. What if he shows up again with OCD and started rearranging the world? It's all a bit chaotic, why isn't the Earth's axis aligned with the plane of its path round the sun? He could fix that and make the poles the same size before distributing Polar Bears and Penguins equally. What's with all these oceans and mountain ranges and rain forests and deserts all over the place? If he lined each up in nice neat bands round the earth it would be so much easier for animal migrations. Fantastic! We at bloggoth love arranging the screws, bolts etc in our shed into neat categories, it is our main purpose in life. We could really worship a neat tidy god like that!

Some people have all the fun

Like this chap. Our bloggoth reporters have been talking to representatives at the RSPTP (Royal Society for the Promotion of Total Perversity) and they reckon that publicly rimming an underage male monkey might qualify the perpetrator for a prize at this year's prestigious De Sade Pervert Awards, although a dead underage male monkey in a bondage bag would have made that more likely. Or could this year's award go to the genetic scientist who claims to have the made ultimate breakthrough, to have delivered the holy grail of perversion, both bestiality and incest with the same partner?

Looking forward to it

We see the European Space Agency is going to send a space ship to Jupiter and its moons. Doubtless they are hoping to find some more EU members to prop up the Euro, Europa sounds as good as in already.

In a few years' time, the better migrants from the larger Jupitan states of Ganymede, Callisto, IO and Europa will doubtless be doing the lowly jobs that our own people would be doing if we stopped handing out welfare so liberally, ambushing us with sponges and buckets of soapy water in Sainsburies car park, serving overpriced coffee in motorway service stations and assisting marketing companies to annoy the hell out of us with unsolicited phone calls and junk mail. Others, including those from the other 62 smaller and poorer moons will be gainfully employed in begging in tube stations, brewing illegal booze, sleeping on the streets outside Victoria station, squatting in Hampstead flats and nicking our wallets on the tube, not to mention being consistently by far the main contributors to the pages of London's most Wanted.

Still, at least the site might look more interesting for a while until the novelty wears off.

No surprise at all

Since Germany opened its doors to Eastern Europeans a year ago far fewer workers than expected have moved there. It beats me why anyone should be remotely surprised at that, those who were most desperate to come to Western Europe have already come to the two countries stupid enough not to set initial migration restrictions, namely us and Ireland. Once those were here, their presence is all that is needed to keep dragging in more, people go where they can be with others like themselves for obvious reasons. We have said it before, the main driver of immigration is immigration, it is a fact that our gormless, or malignant, governments never seem to grasp.

NOT AGAIN

We are sick to death of reading some news although sometimes, the continuing problems of the Euro for example, we read it anyway because it is important and what happens will affects all of us. Other news we are just sick to death of, period, and just skip over it or do something else while it's on TV news. Like the F* Leveson enquiry! The phone hacking scandal has to be about the dullest, most overdiscussed issue ever, with costs to the taxpayer that appear to be totally out of proportion to the impact on ordinary people. One has the distinct impression this is only so important because it has affected rich and powerful people.

Mind you, even the dullness/annoyingness of that issue, which is at least current, will be overshadowed if the Stephen Bloody Lawrence enquiry is reopened yet again. Given that the Met police did not appear to be treating blacks equally there was a case for the first enquiry but, regardless of whether every single detail came out or not, the public interest was served by the broad conclusions and recommendations made. There are no new general issues to be discussed and there is no case for spending another vast sum of money (AND boring us all silly yet again) by having a public enquiry about allegations regarding a single corrupt officer; that, like any other case of a corrupt individual, should be investigated by normal criminal procedures that are not the concern of the Home secretary, the London mayor or any other politician.

The Inquiries Act 2005 enables a Public Inquiry to be held where events have caused, or are capable of causing, public concern or if there is public concern over particular events that have occurred. Following some recent cases there is much more public concern about foreign doctors who can't speak English and migrants working in care homes who have not been properly vetted as British workers would have to be. Any public enquiries about those issues? Of course not.

To reopen the public enquiry on this issue simply raises the perception that our laws and our governments are according favourable treatment to minorities. Perceptions matter and resentment will makes another Lawrence case more likely, not less.

Another slant on it

We very rarely link to The Daily Mail, as links to the BBC, Guardian or Independent are much better ammunition for silencing liberal lefty crap arguments, but it had an item today about female genital mutilation in the UK. We agree with most of the comments, this painful and damaging procedure on young children for religious or cultural reasons is a barbarism that has no place in civilised society and perpetrators should always be prosecuted. A major reason for circumcision is the unnatural sexual repression in the religious societies that practice it, the inflicting of this pain on infants is simply a punishment in advance for future lust. Unless there are genuine medical reasons (and there rarely are), male circumcision of infants should also be made illegal.

The slant? Well, quite by coincidence there was this news in a London paper about the "very religious" head of a pro-circumcision group caught with a hoard of child porn. The group is called the Gilgal Society and we will leave it to the non-existent reader to Google it. If any of the stuff about that group by circleaks and others is true, it does make you wonder about the rest of it. We have always seen these practices as purely religious or cultural in origin but, looking at the prevalence of child abuse within religions and some third world countries, could the ongoing practice also be about sexual perversion?

Whatever the reasons it should not be happening in Britain.

March Against Twats

Those who are determined to destroy any vestige of a British culture, those who are sane anyway, are clearly equally determined never to check any facts, it's the only way they can possibly believe what they do. Checking on goverment or other non-extremist sites would tell them that much of the stuff they spout is utter nonsense but they will never stop spouting it. Today in Brighton there was a March for England and yet again, according to the BBC TV news, it was the leftists who caused most of the trouble, with damage to property and violence against the police as well as the tiny band of marchers. You can see all the same old drivel trotted out again in the, mostly lefist, comments to that article.

An arse trots out the tired old saw that we are all descended from migrants, even mentioning the Vikings arriving in their longships so, QED, there can be no problem with immigrants today. Does he seriously imagine that arrival of the Vikings gave us an era of peace? Major migrations to any populated country, particularly when there are major differences in religion or culture or when the host country has significant numbers of marginalised members whose position is made worse by it, has always caused conflict throughout history. To take some less ridiculous examples, look at recent problems in New York or South Africa. The only way past mass migrations can be cited as a reason for more is if you like conflict and want more of it.

Another arse compares the marchers to Hitler's fascists. Nationalism is not the same thing as Fascism. Fascism is an authoritarian creed that rejects democracy, but what the majority of "the right" in the UK want is much more democracy, they want their genuine and justified concerns about excessive immigration addressed rather than ignored decade after decade. Certainly, they have a desire for a national culture and heritage in common but to equate the two is rather like equating Ed Milliband with Pol Pot. The desire to have one's own culture and nation, to employ and help one's own people is common to all nations of Earth; have leftists never heard of Africanisation or Indonesianisation or Indianisation? Why are those peoples never denounced as racist?

Yet another arse does the tired old thing about wonderful hard working migrants compared to lazy Brits. Maybe he has not read the Gott and Johnson study cited in the 2007 Labour government produced pro-immigration document that states that migrants are more likely to be unemployed and on welfare than the indigenous British. Statistics do indeed show that some migrants, principally the Chinese and Indians, are higher acheivers than the white British, but the same statistics also show that other major groups, principally Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and blacks are consistently lower. Some Eastern Europeans perform very poorly by some measures too. We have quoted numerous links in the past on crime and prison population, welfare, social housing and health to support these facts, most recently this one on educational acheivements. White Brits at the bottom of the heap? The only problem with that is that it isn't remotely true.

March for England have this on their website:

We WELCOME everyone to March For England, Regardless of Colour, Culture or Religion or Non Religion, United we can make this country a more better place, free from a Un-Democratic Government that ignores the people, Free from Hardline Extremists of all Religions or facist groups that bring Non Cohesion and so much more. JOIN US TO DEBATE OR FIND OUT MORE !!!!!

Does not sound far right to me. It is perfectly true that any group against mass immigration will get support from the real far right and racist skinheads but extremists will always support a moderate organisation which goes a little way along their path. Hardline Muslims will support a moderate Muslim candidate over a non-Muslim candidate at elections, is it ok to use that fact to smear all Muslims as extremists? The only "evidence" I can find that far right figures are behind MFE is that a lot of leftist groups say so. Even if there are ex-EDL people behind March for England, maybe they set it up because they felt they wanted a more moderate organisation. Either way, the message is moderate and with a small group like that what else is there but the message? Are they secretly planning a government takeover?

Whatever this group's real motivations, one thing is almost certain: none of those lefty commentators will have made even the slightest attempt to have checked the facts for themselves before posting their comments. The left are like chickens, they squawk because others of their kind squawk and most of their noise contains no realities whatever.

Sport

The missus is always watching some boring sport bollux on TV. Tonight it was live football, Chelsea vs Barcelona. Here we have a shot of Trogdor after his goal. Never mind sticking your tongue out Trogdor, how about getting round here sharpish and fixing my bleeding monitor, it's what Samsung are paying you for isn't it??

Is the internet rewriting history much faster than it's ever been written before?

In quantum physics it is said to be impossible to measure or observe something without affecting it. That is a rule that can equally be applied to human society, any reporting will itself change the outcome of the events reported on.

At one time, most ordinary people had no grasp of events beyond their own lives because their knowledge was very limited or non existent but now we can all read about world events at the touch of a keyboard I am not sure we are any better informed because all the information we have is slewed to recent events and there is no perspective. Yesterday, before Breivik mentioned Luton, Googling "luton muslim no go areas" would have brought up quite a bit on the subject. Now, for umpteen pages, there are far fewer references to it that might let anyone actually look at the evidence, because most links are merely repeats of the quote "Luton hits back at ′nutter′ Breivik"

It's a bit like the diminution of events that propoganda or the mists of time normally brings to history but, instead of taking weeks or decades, it can happen overnight.

Why no with-it ghosts?

If there are such things as ghosts, how come there aren't any of the more recently deceased? Ghosts are supposedly seen wearing Roman uniforms or Elizabethan dresses, riding on horses or carrying oil lamps, but there are never any reports, not that we can find anyway, of ghosts wearing flack jackets or short skirts, riding motorbikes or holding torches. Are people today somehow dying in a different sort of way that doesn't cause earth bound spirits?

On the subject of ghosts, been rereading stories by one of the the great short ghost story writers of the early 20th century, E F Benson, and have realised that his best known creepy tale, The Room in the Tower is set right here in xoggoth land, the real places mentioned are just a couple of miles away. We were awoken by a funny noise last night, which we had assumed was a cat trying to get over our patent KEEP BASTARD CATS OUT OF XOGGOTH'S GARDEN barrier but on the other hand...

Nasty to horses time

The Cheltenham Gold cup, Aintree, Royal Ascot. It's that time of the year when women wander about in stupid outfits and even dafter hats while poor little horses are being raced and jumped to death. Time we put a stop to this cruelty to horses. If we want entertainment why not make the stupid women jump over huge fences instead?

Non existent readers might wonder what the racehorses would be doing. That's easy, we will still have a contest involving horses but the winners will be chosen according to what really matters in a horse. Which one has the pointiest ears!

Cut

We don't dislike Jamie Oliver, it is just that, like 99.9999% of the population, we find him extremely irritating. How very nice of him to provide us with an outlet for our irritation by putting his picture on his tomato growbags in a position that requires you to slit his throat in order to use them.

That was so enjoyable that we felt much warmer towards the chap. Maybe other annoying or downright hated figures should take note. Many would feel they were acting irrationally by putting up pictures solely in order to deface them but if they could vent their annoyance and hatred while engaged in quite necessary actions it would very cathartic and we might be more inclined to see their viewpoint.

Three cheers for Jamie who, now I think about it, isn't very annoying at all! We look forward to Ed Balls bog paper, ArseBishop of Canterbury chopping boards, Prince of Daftness tampons, Bob Crow dart boards etc.

Simple pleasures should trump your f* worthy causes

We have no interest in watching the boat race but many do look forward to that harmless pleasure. Then some fucking smug idiot obsessed with making a point about inequality ruins it for them. It is all part of the modern idiocy in the West that we should put idealism above the things that make the world worth living in at all. Nobody is allowed to do what comes naturally, to put living their lives and caring for themselves, their families and their own people first; we have to donate our happiness, our money, our safety, our sense of nationhood and the lives of our troops, to bring about the great ideals of eliminating poverty and inequality, bringing human rights to all etc etc.

The only reason that relatively wealthy inhabitants of the west can afford to think like this is because they have more than they need to survive. The people they are helping cannot yet afford to do so, they look out for themselves as nature intended. We give and they take. Welfare becomes a right and any effort to force the recipients to do more for themselves is resented. Foreign regimes skew their policies to getting more aid rather than taking effective economic measures or spend it to expand populations without any corresponding increase in the productive economies that are needed to reduce poverty. There is little gratitude among low grade migrants and asylum seekers, only resentment when the the realities of the promised land fail to match their daft fantasies. There is little intention to integrate and respect the principles of their adopted nation, only separation and a determination to make our society a mirror of theirs.

It isn't that there is anything wrong with those ideals in principle, it is just that they are unobtainable unless some amazing scientific breakthroughs provide us with limitless supplies of cheap food and energy and mankind somehow transforms into another species with totally different instincts.

To continually put our own lives and happiness on hold while we search for solutions for all mankind's problems is to postone them forever.

It really does exist

Can't find the link now but once saw a survey on a neighbour dispute site showing that many people locked into long term disputes had the most violent fantasies about their antagonists. Such thoughts are probably pretty common among quite normal people, it's only the more abnormal ones who let these ideas spill over into reality.

If you don't act on it, why not? We at bloggoth have an imaginary machine, that we invented and nobody else knows about, that can open portals between one place and another. When we were in dispute with MR PIKEY SCUM we often opened portals between the inlet of his heart and the local sewage works or the foundations of his house and a point 1000 feet up over the ocean. If we were in a charitable mood we would just open a portal under his truck 30 feet above his car. Now that we are both just content to ignore each other, the machine has not gone to waste and we use it to export Labour politicians into steel blast furnaces, asylum seekers back to their crappy countries of origin and foreign criminals to deserts on alien worlds where they wander around aimlessly before starving to death.

One fate we regularly mete out to really, really crappy sorts like Abu Qatada is to drop them from a huge height onto an area of enormous spikey rocks. We were amazed to see in The DM that this imaginary place actually exists! If that part of our imagination is a reality, who is to say that the rest is not? We recall a strange occurence once, at about 12 years old, when we were bored stiff in church and decided to use our mind to see if we could move a hymn book about twelve feet away. We concentrated like mad for several minutes and, this is really true, it shifted about two inches and fell off the edge of the bench!

Better watch out Quatada!

New discovery rocks our understanding of nature to the very foundations

As we said recently we have a little mouse/little mice in our shed. Unlike rats, which are hugely destructive and will gnaw huge holes in your shed if you let them, meeces are inoffensive little creatures and we often leave them a bit of bread or bird seed. Yesterday we thought we might broaden their diet a little and also left a few bits of grated cheese. This morning the seed had all gone at usual but the cheese was untouched.

MICE DON'T LIKE CHEESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could have told you that!!!

TIME FOR A RANT! says Zebedee

Governments are bastards

Something the Lib Dems have got right is their opposition to plans for greater surveillance of citizens and secret trials.

If government was what it should be, if it could be trusted, there would not be much wrong with either idea. The old saw "if you have done nothing wrong you have nothing to fear" would make some sense if serious criminals and would-be terrorists were the only ones likely to face penalties or be arrested but we know it doesn't work like that. Surveillance measures, supposedly to combat terrorism, have been used by local authorities to catch people for minor civil misdemeanours. Extradition treaties, supposedly for the same reason, have been applied to unrelated matters that are not even an offence in the UK. What governments have strived to keep hidden from view has been nothing to do with the public interest but only with theirs, like the actions against Campbell, the lack of any inquest on Doctor David Kelly and the attempts to avoid revealing MP's expenses. They are liars, liars, liars and any powers given to government WILL be misused.

If we need Protection against terrorism then, rather than watch everyone, why not spend the time and money where it counts? Why not control immigration and movement from Muslim countries, throw out and exclude the radicals, put a stop to broadcasts from Saudi fanatics, monitor the university societies and mosques that are known to be extremist? How does it make any FUCKING sense to spend billions keeping the email, internet search and phone records of old ladies while we allow so-called students and "asylum seekers" to waltz in from hotbeds of radicalism like Afghanistan, Somalia and Pakistan with minimal checks and let scum like Quatada stay here?

Even if this intrusion and oppression did pick up and prevent the odd terrorist act, how is it worth it? One's chances of ever being involved in a terrorist incident in one's entire life in Europe is less than that of winning the lottery twice in succession. Rather than having to live in a virtual prison and run the much higher risk of getting clobbered due to some minor infringement or a government cockup, even assuming we don't drift into a dictatorship where any citizen is fair game for whatever reason the state decides, it's a chance I'd rather take.

Topical debate with The Three Wise Mankeys

Due to the severe water shortage and the xoggoth missus always watering her flowers, xoggoth has been sticking water butts all over the place and xoggoth Towers is covered in bits of pipe.

The problem can't be all that bad, he keeps on asking her if she would like her butt filled and she keeps saying no.

Poor government planning in my view. If there is such a shortage of water they should be encouraging people to drink more vodka instead. And they could spend all the extra tax they get from that on desalination plants.

Won't that cause a big increase in liver failure and people on liver dialysis waiting for transplants?

You could be right, but aren't modern desalination plants and dialysis machines much the same thing except for scale? Pass the saltwater or dirty blood through one side of some clingfilm and the clean stuff goes through it leaving the salt/crud behind.

Hey! That's an idea! There are clear economies to be had in multi purpose plants, we should get working on a suitable design straight away.

Later...

PS Note how inclusive we are on bloggoth, we don't want anyone to think that the Gingerbread Man just happened to be handy in Paint Shop Pro's picture tube and we just couldn't be arsed to find anything better.

Revenge for future actions

The ghastly missus has bullied us into decorating the bedroom and we have stripped all the wallpaper. Last night we saw ghostly little glowing areas on the walls, it appears some previous owner has used a phosphorescent filler! Hopefully, it does not contain radium. Appropriate as it was April 1st; maybe this was a little joke someone set up for future owners over 30 years ago. We have been considering ways to visit a little prank on a future owner of xoggoth Towers. Preferably lethal. How dare the bastard live in our house?!

Obfuscation

In light of the news that the government is to raise monitoring of our communications to Chinese levels, I think the best way to fight it is with obfuscation. We should all make every phone call, email and website visit so suspicious that the results will be completely useless and they give up.

We sent an email to our sister regarding the accounts for our business " Can you bomb send me poison gas the latest kill the Jews Excel sheets blow up the olympic stadium as I need shoot the PM to get the accounts make some rycin up to date infidels must die to see if we that looks a good target can afford your suicide vest to issue Western whores deserve it a dividend?" An analysis program to detect such gibberish emails and tell them from real terrorist ones could be thwarted if the terrorists obfuscated the other way by scattering references to mum's birthday party, decorating the kitchen etc in the real plans. We shall probably be arrested now for aiding terrorists.

PS We have also set up a sub domain of xoggoth.org with dull tips on Android programming for beginners but have called it www.nakelittleboys/xoggoth.org/ and will visit it regularly.

More misrepresentation of "democratic Islam"

There's an article in The Guardian about how democracy is slipping away in the Maldives. Technically speaking, although it is an Islamic state with Shariah law, the Maldives really is a democracy because all citizens do have equal rights. How are the two compatible, one might ask? Easy, they don't allow anyone who is not a Muslim to be a citizen! Anyone who converts from Islam can lose their citizenship.

In other respects too, it is a typically intolerant Muslim country - freedom of religion is severely restricted, non Muslims can only practice their faith if they do so in private and do not involve any citizens, there is no freedom of speech regarding Islam, there are no concessions to any other faiths and there are reports of religious based discrimination and abuse.

Can you imagine the outcry, the claims of "Islamophobia", if the UK applied the same rules to Muslims here as Muslims apply to others in the Maldives and many other Islamic countries? If they were not allowed to be citizens, to build mosques, to show their faith in public or if Muslims in prison were fed pork? And yet The Guardian article suggests that, until recent events, this was some tolerant, democratic state and compares the president to Nelson Mandela.

Ones wonders how many Islam apologists who read stuff like this ever bother to check the realities.

Blaming the wrong people is half the problem

In the wake of the conviction of three black gangsters over the shooting of a five year old girl, Thusha kamaleswaran, an Asian reporter in a London paper accuses the black community of silence over the issue. The responses are all fairly predictable, blacks and liberals accusing the chap of unfairly targetting all blacks, right wingers saying blacks are all like that, various sides asking why "Asians" don't apologise for the attacks on Kriss Donald in Scotland etc.

Why should the more useful members of any community be expected to continually apologise for the awful ones? As a white bloke who has never been in trouble with the law, never made significant demands on the NHS or the welfare system and always paid my fair share of tax I don't feel it it is my duty to apologise for feckless white layabouts or paedophiles and still less to spend my time and money fixing the problems they cause, so why should any other race/creed be expected to always apologise for the crap in their midst?

PC pretence aside, immigration of blacks and Muslims since the 50s has had a negative effect on our nation. You can waffle all you want about the reasons but reasons don't change the facts that you can find in the ONS and other reputable public sector sources, the educational attainments listed here for example, that these groups are above average in terms of imprisonment, welfare and social housing needs and below average in terms of health, income and qualifications. The proper solution would have been to act on those statistics and tighten controls to ensure we only took those who were likely to be an asset and the only people to blame are our fecking governments with their total failure to properly control the quality of people who settled in the UK.

There is always this daft assumption that every ethnic group is uniform in its attitudes regardless of education or ability but previous polls on immigration have shown minorities registering concerns not much below those of the white British. If I emigrated to another country and was doing well and hordes of antisocial, jobless, sink-estate white British kids started to pour in and to give us all a bad name, my resentment would be against them, not against the natives who were justifiably pissed off with it. Perhaps we ought to consider that the people who would probably benefit the most from stricter immigration controls are the more useful members of our ethnic minorities.

Like it

You would think that the US could come up with some better presidents than it does. Ok, our PMs are mostly incompetent or total arseholes too, but they do have five times the population, they ought to get it right a bit more often than we do.

We were looking up Santorum, yet another US Republican religious nutcase. Superficially, one could say he was sound on some issues, like opposition to Islamism, but then his is the sort of hawkish, interfering, invading sort of opposition, like Bush's, that causes more troubles than it cures. The sort in which US troops go in to tackle some major world threat, expecting it will all be over by Christmas, only to withdraw in ignimony, umpteen years and umpteen billions of US taxpayers' money later, leaving things as bad or worse than they were before.

And what exactly would be the point of a president who opposes Islamists when he has many of the same views about the role of religion in public life that they do? He wants creationism taught in schools. He does not simply oppose gay rights and abortion as many do, he wants to outlaw various sexual practices between consenting couples in their own homes, prohibit adultery and does not even think married couples should have a right to contraception.

He appears to be a total arsehole and it was amusingly appropriate to find the top Google for "Santorum" has this definition: the frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex. Excellent! Why can't we in the UK show disdain for our politicians quite so effectively?

Our daft planning laws

Some wierd old bloke who looked like Father Christmas was leafletting everyone about a planning proposal in the area. Had a check and could not see any major problems with it and, in any case, don't think I can put up with going on another list and getting deluged with 40 page documents every week over another issue.

I did look at the grounds for objections to a plan. Valid ones include "whether the appearance and size of a new building is in keeping with its neighbours and the surrounding area" but on the other hand "loss of property value" is not considered a relevant issue. So you can complain if a neighbour's extension isn't in the right sort of brick to match neighbouring houses but if a new development would knock £100k off the value of your house you can't mention it? Insane!

Hurrah!

What we like about this time of year is that all the fantastic little creatures have reappeared. Little creatures are so much nicer than horrible people. There was a tiny Slow-worm on the patio. A poor little Goldfinch hit the window and I had to pick it up and put it on the coal bunker away from cats. Fortunately, it was only a bit stunned and soon flew off. Hurrah!

We have also been using a remote IR camera to take videos of the little mouse that keeps tidying up any spilled birdseed in the shed. It is just as well we can't be arsed to set it up or the non existent readers would be obliged to put up with a 24 hour streaming mouse cam.

Talking Italian

We only registered on Facebook as part of the business contacts thing. Can't really be arsed with online things for personal contacts although, if we were a bit younger, we would certainly be using it for "personal" contacts, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more.

Just as well, as it has gone totally haywire and seems to think we are Italian. We thought it might be confusing us with a nephew who lives in Milan but he says he is not into any online networking. All our would-be "friends" are young Italians and all the sponsored ads are in Italian for Italian or Croatian companies. We have added one "friend", Aleandra Salinas, only because we thought adding her might stop the constant emails inviting us to do so. She is 31 and rather chewy, if the photo is really her, so quite why she would want to add an ancient British chap to her friends list, especially one who has never bothered to fill in any personal details, apart from name and age, is beyond me.

Hopefully the thing works a bit better for those who actually give a damn.

Extending technology - 2

Lots of people supposedly use webcams to keep in touch with friends or relatives who live a long way away. (Not just for that)

This technology needs to be extended a whole lot more so that one can participate in things one can't be arsed to go to, like some boring expensive wedding. The bride and groom could get married in church surrounded by widescreen TVs showing all their guests and the latter could save a lot of money by not having to book hotels and drive all the way to Reading or some such crappy place. They wouldn't have to splash out on expensive clothes either if the webcams just focused on the faces.

Only a short step from that to using increasingly sophisticated CGI to pretend you are participating in the ceremony while you are actually watching the Liverpool match.

Self interest is no bad thing for everyone

Google "economic progress Africa" and it seems there is some good news in the world. Many Sub Saharan African countries have registered significant increases in GDP over the last few years and have been little impacted by the slowdown in the world economy. It would be great if this was due to those nations finding their "renaissance moment" and creating their own industries but in large part it is due to huge investment by India and China who are making a determined attempt to take the lion's share of Africa's natural resources. It is not just Africa either, they are doing the same thing in Afghanistan.

For many decades the West has been providing enormous amounts of aid to Africa out of humanitarian concern and the result, over much of that time, has been that the population outpaced the GDP. It has also spent billions in Afghanistan out of some obsessive concern with a very local form of Islamic militancy and predictably achieved nothing for anyone. Meanwhile, the Indians and the Chinese have relentlessly pursued their own interests and practical aid has been tied to commercial advantage; they provide useful infrastructure (usually built by their companies) in return for guaranteed supplies of raw materials. Unlike us, they have not spent money on trying to "rectify" perceived political and social problems in other societies and have little compunction about using bribery or dealing with repressive regimes when it suits their purpose. Unlike ours, their aid is usually in the form of roads and factories that improves economies, rather than food, medicines and mosquito nets that expand the population. Is that approach so wrong when it seems to be doing far more for the people of those countries than our interfering self righteousness, our obessions with legality and democracy and human rights and "saving lives"?

One thing is sure, if we carry on picking up the bill for the world's problems and letting the Indians and Chinese reap all the benefits it won't be a good future for us.

Extending technology - 1

Lots of great technology still hasn't been applied in the right areas. Heard a sad story today about someone's elderly friend who turned up late because she got lost on a short walk she has made nearly every week for years. How quickly she will go downhill from here on is anybody's geuss but a Satnav would have helped.

We have toyed with the idea of getting a hand held GPS for jogging but probably couldn't read the thing without our glasses (even if we could get one at the pound shop) so no way would they be suitable for an 80+ year old without a much bigger screen. That needn't necessarily be way more expensive as they could greatly reduce the resolution. You don't need a lot to show you the way to your friend's house in the next street and you really don't need to display a map at all, just a big arrow that always points the direction. Something like a ZX81 screen would be fine.

10, 9, 8..

Oh FFS! Now we have news that the then government were given innacurate information about the reasons for the Hillsborough disaster 23 years ago. Fine, if such news was merely an interesting historial revelation, on a par with the discovery of some some ancient document about William the Conquerer's motivations for invading England perhaps, but that is not the case. This has been turned into a political issue with calls from Labour for the government to apologise for mistakes of a past governments. Recently we have also had calls from Stephen Lawrence's parents for the government to reopen, yet again, allegations of police corruption relating to this 19 year old case.

While one can understand the emotional concerns that relatives have with their own, maybe governments who are financed by all of us, should be spending money on current issues that have more relevance to the majority. Maybe, instead of wasting time arguing about Hillsborough, it would be more useful to look at why present day Liverpool is such a failure, with the highest concentration of deprived areas in the UK and the 3rd worst life expectancy of any town. Maybe, instead of wasting more money on the Lawrence case, the government should be addressing the real reasons for racism today with honesty rather than political correctness. It is not just about recession, unemployment, lack of housing and local BNP activities as that previous link says, but also justifiable resentment at huge levels of immigration by too many who, unlike Lawrence, are taking our society backwards and making London a profoundly unsafe place to live.

Why do we have this ridiculous system of releasing information after ten years? Of course there can be reasons, of national security or national interest or for the protection of individuals, when information cannot be released straight away or, occasionally, not released at all. That is a matter for individual consideration but generally there should be no bars to release of government information on request. Maybe then we would not be wasting time and money arguing over 20 year old issues.

Ah! More Moderate Islam!

Not exactly a fan of Islam here at bloggoth but we must admit that even we thought Morocco was not too bad by the low standards of that awful backward religion. It is news to us that a Moroccan woman can be forced to marry her rapist.

It just shows the extent to which even us realists on the issue of Islam can sometimes be conned by the pretence. Still, at least we at bloggoth no longer believe, as so many do, some of the other dafter fictions, for example, that Pakistan is a democracy. If politicians, right down to member of a provincial assembly are required to "strive to preserve the Islamic Ideology" how does that allow non Muslims to have an equal say in society exactly? (Even assuming they are not shot or blown up).

Or devil worshippers?

Clearly it is pointless for us atheists to hope for any rights in the workplace so maybe we should just give in and embrace a religion, just make sure it's a minority one that doesn't have too many adherents so we can pretty much do our own thing. We don't fancy being a Jedi somehow, all that using the force does not sit well with drinking Vodka. Satanist sounds good though! Dancing around naked, drugs, orgies, sacrificing virgins, fantastic! The best part though would be being able to kiss a goat's bottom and they couldn't touch you for it out of respect for your right to practice the requirements of your faith.

We have drafted this initial design of a medallion that will be the symbol of our new faith. If any non-existent readers object we shall take them to the court of human rights!

What about rights of atheists or employers?

"Christians have no right to wear cross at work" is the headline in the DT. On the face of it, that does seem most unreasonable. A crucifix is such a small thing and it beats me why any employer would object to it. The management at BA were clearly a bunch of twats.

However, the government is not actually seeking to ban people from wearing crucifixes at work, it is only seeking to defend the rights of employers to set their own rules for working. Any good employer should make reasonable concessions to an employee's beliefs if it does not significantly impact his business or the other employees but it is quite wrong in principle that laws should exist that force them to do so regardless of circumstances. It is highly discriminatory too, atheists can also have strongly held beliefs on a range of issues but they get no protection. Why exactly must a business pick up a bill for faith-based reasons but not for rational ones? The government is quite correct to oppose further extension of religious rights via the courts.

The Christians do at least appear to be correct that they get less rights than those of other faiths but the answer to that problem is to remove those rights, not hand out more. It shouldn't matter whether something is a "requirement" of a faith or not - crucifixes, Muslim veils, Sikh daggers or whatever, there should be no absolute right to opt out of necessary workplace restrictions.

Senility

We at bloggoth can never remember names, everyone is thingy, at least until 3AM when the person we were trying to recall pops into our head when we get up for the umpteenth pee of the night. What a curious inverse correlation of memory and bladder function, one fails as the other gets more active. We would be worried about dementia except that we can recall (vaguely) that we could never remember names even when we were 20 and we can still do integral calculus. Hello, non existent reader, who are you again? Oh yes! Sorry, have to go for a pee. Aaah that's better! Who did you say you were again?

The point is that people age in different ways. Some, like my neighbour, are still as mentally sharp as they ever were but physical problems prevent them from getting about much. Some have little wrong with them physically but live in a state of confusion. Many could do more but suffer from a loss of confidence, having suffered injury as a result of a fall like my late mother or having been mugged on the streets, like my late grandmother in law, by one of the increasing number of utter bastards in the UK who see the elderly as easy prey.

Different weeknesses and different strengths, why not pool those strengths? The collective ability of the elderly, if only it could be harnessed efficiently, could be much greater. If Camorons's big society means anything, it should mean a sort of Borg type collective where all of us ageing sorts get together and pool our diminishing resources.

Not quite

We quite like The Guardian, it may be a liberal lefty paper but at least it is usually honest. We don't object to leftist viewpoints so much as the frequent hypocricy and the dishonesty about the facts. We like comedian David Mitchell's regular column too but you do sometimes see some bollux, like this comment:

But Cameron scented blood and called for Labour to "start turning back the money" that Unite provides. Obviously that can't happen – Labour utterly relies on it. But the request reminds everyone of the party's financially compromised position in relation to trade unions (something the political right somehow manages to portray as more embarrassing than their own reliance on business interests and expat plutocrats).

It would certainly be better for democracy if funding of parties was not by major organisations whose agendas are not necessarily the same as those of the general public but to equate funding of the Tories by big business and of Labour by Unions is an innacurate comparison. Yes, both groups are using undue influence but big businesses are not handed a direct role in the election of Tory party leaders in the way that unions are handed a role in the election of Labour ones.

If we want equality of political influnce maybe companies should go around requiring their employees to declare their political allegiances, sending them propoganda on the choice of Tory party leader and even putting their recommendations inside ballot papers.

Anglefart Shinglecock? You must be joking.

Have we really given up so much on the younger generation that we can't find a more topical entrant to the Urinevision Song Contest than Fiddlebum Fumbledick? Or maybe we have concluded it's all a waste of time anyway, if Blue can't win it for us, who can? Perhaps we should just express our contempt for the whole thing and send a decayed horse.

PS Non existent readers may think the sole purpose of this post is so that we at bloggoth can amuse our peurile little mind by making up rude schoolboy vaguely soundalike variations on wassisname. They are absolutely right! Dangledick Wiggleshit, Eviltart Bummerstick, Dinglecrap...

PPS here's the best known piece from Hansel und Gretel by the original Bumbledirt Fiddletit. Just as well there was no Urinevision Pong Contest in those days or the bleeding Germans and Italians would have won it all the time.

PPPS Reminds us of this one. Sodding Austrians. Forgot them.

PPPPS Wouldn't that sound great if sung by a chicken? Unfortunately, chickens are too funky to do opera but this would be ok for Urinevision.

The plus side of nationalism

We didn't see Starkey's comments on TV but he is correct in general that interference in other nations rarely turns out well and that, however well meaning it may be, we will never be thanked for it. Nationalism is always compared to Nazism but the reality of some nationalist groups in Europe today is that, unlike Hitler's Nazis, they are opposed to invading or interfering in the affairs of other countries. The BNP manifesto, for instance, explicitly rules out such actions. Had such a policy been the accepted norm in Western countries for the last 80 years or so it is hard to see that the world would have been anything but a better place.

Biggest utter cockup 1 was the creation of Israel. This was a well meaning idea that made very little sense. Why on Earth did the British feel it their duty to create a Jewish nation, especially when the Jewish terrorists were showing their gratitude by killing so many of our people? There is a lot of propoganda and lies on both sides of the argument but it is a fact that immigration from Europe in the first half of the 19th century greatly swelled the number of Jews in Palestine, especially in Jerusalem. Would any of us feel happy about a huge influx of people to our country and having it taken over by them on the grounds that their ancestors lived there 2000 years ago? Hardly surprising this issue has been a top source of international tensions for decades.

Biggest utter cockup 2 was the UK/US backed coup detat to overthrow an elected government in Iran and convert the Shah of Iran from a constitutional monarch into a dictator. How was it the right of the US and UK to interfere and did it really make any sense? We protected our oil interests for 26 years but pursuing friendly relations, given the Iranian need for Western knowhow, might have worked as well. Iran used to be a relatively secular nation and many in the country, as the protests and the prevalence of secret parties facilitated by police bribery indicate, are still opposed to the religious conservatism but even the more liberal elements are suspicious of the West and, given the history, who can blame them?

Biggest Utter cockup 3 was the invasion of Afghanistan. It made little sense to see the parochial conservatives of a backward country as a major part of a global threat that was created and funded by wealthy Arabs purely because of a few terrorist training camps, especially when they were free to relocate themselves elsewhere after the invasion. This cockup has had the greatest effect on the UK due to the number of Pakistanis that live here. There was a time when such Islamic terrorism as there was in Europe was largely traceable to Arabs and I recall posting on a forum once that we in the UK were lucky that most of our Muslims were from South Asia as they generally had their heads screwed on. Then Pakistan got messed up big time by the spill over from the Afghanistan war and now it is no great surprise that most of our terrorists and militants are of Pakistani origin. Were this post not about more recent events we might have pointed out that an earlier cockup, the partition of India, was a factor here. A Hindu India would have had greater leeway to deal with Islamic extremism from Afghanistan and we might not have a nuclear armed Muslim nation in the world.

It is always imagined that global tensions would be raised if we had more nationalist governments in charge. The more likely scenario is that the current tension with Iran might not even exist and the problems of Islamic radicalism and terrorism would be rather less if they had been.

The slanted world of PC reporting 2

More and more, we see African names in connection with violent gang crime in South East England and some of the worst gangs, like the DSN, in places like Croydon that never had any major gangs 30 years ago, are African. According to The Guardian, abuse of children accused of being witches is an underreported and growing problem.

It is nothing to do with race directly, if we opened a time portal to take migrants from Victorian London we would have similar problems, but with the current development of African nations. The violent and corrupt nature of many African countries and the widespread belief in witchcraft in countries like Nigeria are not inventions of The Daily Mail and are not a secret either, so what the hell do we expect when we allow uncontrolled immigration from that continent?

It is bad enough that we have to put up with huge numbers of migrants whose impact on the UK is negative but we are also expected to pretend they are all marvellous or be accused of racism. Unfortunately, both the reality and the pretence about it only raise predudice against the decent ones. The way to address it is not to bend the truth but to tackle the real issue and vet migrants properly so that the only ones we let in are likely to be the asset that we have to pretend they all are.

Unfortunately our wonderful authorities prefer to perpetuate the pretence rather than take effective action. I mentioned before the quite disproportionate numbers of blacks and Eastern Europeans on Crime Stoppers Most Wanted but the truth is not easy to get at, the site allows people to flip through and see if they recognise anyone but, after they click on a photo to see the details, they are sent back to page 1. Unless the website designers are totally incompetent this is a deliberate ploy to prevent people easily gathering statistics on ethnicity and nationality.

We see that Scotland Yard is reviewing hundreds of unsolved murders some dating back to the 1960s. Ah! Due to advances in forensic testing no doubt, couldn't possibly be that finding some murderers who committed their crimes before the nature of London changed so radically due to mass immigration will push the official statistics slightly more into line with fantasy could it?

Maybe that time portal to Victorian London is being developed somewhere. A flood of Fagan, Bill Sykes and Artful Dodger types could do quite a lot to boost the pretence that serious criminals in South East England are proportionately white British.

Lunatic

Now EU law is to require that, if workers are sick during their holidays, their employers must give them extra time off. Why the fuck should they? If you get sick on your time that's your tough luck. What next? Will they get a day off if they feel poorly on Sunday? If they can't sleep will they get to take a nap of corresponding length at work?

SMEs are already snowed under with red tape and regulation and this will only deter them even further from taking on employees. Businesses exist to make money, to produce goods and services that boost the UK economy and, hopefully, that can be sold abroad to help our balance of payments; they are not arms of the welfare state. Businessmen and women start businesses to give themselves a purpose, to provide for themselves and their families, to provide employment to those with the same ethos; they do not start them out of blind charity to others regardless of their merit.

This will only depress the European economy even further. Meanwhile, those nations with more sense, like the US, China or India, will continue to grow at our expense.

Art for fart's sake

There was a thing on the local BBC evening news about an "artist" making scultures on a local beach out of pebbles. Wouldn't say they showed immense talent but they were quite decorative, pity some people were vandalising them. Oh wait, what were we thinking? Vandalism is a valid way of expressing oneself. In an era of meaningless production and excessive rules, it is a meaningful search for our natural roots and freedoms, an attempt to return to the primal sod from which we all sprang. We should start calling it by its proper name, Antithetical Art.

We said a little while back that ritual killers could be regarded as artists. Maybe it is going a little far to hand out Arts Council grants to murderers but there is a good case for recategorising lesser types of antisocial behaviour as art as a) It would make people view them in a positive way rather than as a problems and b) if they did that it would be unecessary to tackle them, saving us all a lot of money.

Get with reality early

The advantage of having a Sky box (thanks to missus bloggoth) is that one has far more channels to flip through before deciding there's nothing on TV worth watching. There's the occasional decent thing, like Garrow's Law or Mystic River, but generally we only watch the evening news. Oh yes, and we have recently discovered Sponge Bob Square Pants on the kid's channel. Brill! Lots of adverts for Barbie dolls. How horribly wholesome (never mispell that as holesome in the context of a woman) Barbie is, you can buy a playset where she washes her puppies with real soap. Aaaaah! Sweet! We want one!

Is it realistic though? If we are going to fund parenthood by everyone regardless of their suitability for the task, sit kids in front of TVs and computers rather than talk to or play with them, not let them out to play due to our obsession with safety, fail to educate them properly in schools, obsess them with celebrity and then replace them with hordes of immigrants when they are useless at work rather than address the issues, shouldn't we try and get the job done as quickly as possible?

We have written to Mattel with some sensible suggestions for new Barbie playsets to encourage children in the norms of behaviour we expect in modern Britain.

Rap

Most teenagers these days are lamentably inarticulate, searching for words amid the piles of you know and like but the other day there were some young black rappers on TV, hardly more than kids, and they were brilliant, the most articulate youngsters we have seen on TV in a very long time. Like anyone over, erm, 32, we hate RAP music and have no idea if they were in any way typical. On the other hand, RAP is about fast talking, so it's possible. Maybe schools could use it.

They would have to do it to Mozart or something obviously.

Where's my aid?

It seems there is now less water in Sussex than in Ethiopia. That's terrible! Why are Ethiopia and all the other benighted African countries not sending us aid in any way they can? We at bloggoth would like a little Bushpig, they look really sexy, erm, I mean cute.

Why will they never get it?

A firm has advertised for taxi drivers in Romania claiming a lack of suitable staff locally. Some of them were professional people at home and it may well be that these 15 are decent sorts who will do a good job but this will not be the end of it. First families, then friends, then other Romanians who have heard that there is a growing Romanian community in the town; this 15 will soon grow to a much larger figure. How long before there are Romanians on benefits and Roma begging on the streets?

The principle driver of immigration is immigration. No matter how carefully the migrants are selected initially, in the end you usually end up with the dross as well.

Quotient

Here is an infallibly accurate scientific test of nutty liberal leftism in any political party. Go to the main policies/manifesto page(s) of their site and do a find on the word fair or variations like fairness unfair etc. Then cut 'n paste the page into MS Word and check bottom left to see how many words there are altogether. The Liberal Lefty Nuttiness Quotient (LLNQ) is given by the formula:

                 fair words
   LLNQ = 1000 * -----------

UKIP. Fair is never mentioned! Hurrah! LLNQ=0.0

Conservatives. There are numerous pages, so we just checked those concerned with social issues - Crime, Health, Immigration, Jobs and Welfare, Pensions and older people, Schools, Women and Equality. LLNQ=0.386

The Green Party LLNQ=5.576

Lib Dems. This is an embedded document so can't cut n paste to count but fair is everywhere! Based on estimated word counts for first few pages LLNQ=20.0

Labour. Could not apply the test as they don't seem to have a policies page. That figures. They do have a link to a picture of Ed Milliband in a microwave.

Snail facts

Moved 4 old plant troughs off the decking today and one had this little lot on it. There were none on the others although there were no obvious differences between them. It seems that this is normal hibernating behaviour, Garden Snails are obviously sociable little animals.

That group of 5 in the middle look a bit too friendly but at least we don't have to worry that they are perverts. Garden Snails, like all snails, are hermaphrodite and can bonk whoever they bump into without worrying about whether they are normal, assuming it's another Garden snail obviously, bonking a Giraffe or Stag Beetle might be frowned on. It sounds a pretty good idea to us and should be adopted by humans. No need for separate male and female fashions, prisons, clubs, toilets, magazines etc etc and no need for gay bars or equality/anti discrimination laws. Life would be a lot simpler.

Naturally we will be putting them somewhere safe away from any lurking Thrushes or Frenchmen. It was the French who introduced this large species into the US for use as food.

Monsters

This week the bloggoth bedtime Kindle reading has been "Rose West: The Making of a Monster". The extent of violent and sexual abuse from a psychotic father that she and the rest of her family had to put up with is scarcely believable.

In many ways this reads like some tale of the Victorian London slums than a real life saga of rural Gloucestershire in the 50s and 60s. Several incidents should have alerted the authorities to what was happening, social services were called on occasions and the sons were found sleeping rough because they were too afraid to go home, but nothing was ever done. It does make you wonder how often such things are still going in.

Rose Letts learned how to avoid most of the violence meted out to her siblings by pleasing her father sexually from infancy and nothing was off limits. The father was himself a product of parental abuse and Fred West appears to have been raised in a similarly abusive and incestuous family. It is hardly a great revelation that the most monstrous people are the ones who have themselves suffered the worst abuses during childhood.

Serial killers, rapists, paedophiles, we cannot afford to award anything but the harshest penalties to protect others but sometimes, when you see what they went through, it's hard not to feel a little sorry for them.

Excuses handed out on a plate

A Christian has taken her employer to a tribunal because she had to work on a Sunday. Caring for children with severe problems is clearly not going to be a Monday to Friday job so, if she is never available on Sunday, other employees must presumably work weekends more often to cover the shortfall. Why should others have to bear the consequences of her faith?

She claims they had no problem with her not working Sundays at the interview and later changed their minds. It happens. I once had an interview agreement on flexibility of working hours so I could miss some of the rush hour traffic but a senior director heard about it later and insisted that I worked normal hours. After a few months of 13+ hour days including the travelling, I chucked the job. No tribunal for me obviously, us atheists don't get handed all the rights that the religious get. Rational reasons to ask for flexibility, like reducing travelling time, don't stack up against irrational ones, like some quote from scripture.

Day of rest? Is that really about faith or just an excuse? People of all faiths and races are just as likely to try and duck onerous duties, to try and blame all their problems and shortfalls on others, but the reality is that only the religious and ethnic minorities are given so many opportunities to do so.

Handing out excuses in a completely discriminating manner seems to be what anti-discrimination laws are about.

Those double standards again

Two cases of racist or religiously aggravated public order offenses came to court today. One was of Four Muslim men in Barnet who are accused, not only of making racially/religiously motivated insults to passing pedestrians, but throwing eggs at them and using threatening behaviour. The other was the well known "Tram Racist", a white women accused of verbally abusing fellow passengers of other origins.

You might imagine that making threats and committing assault, in addition to making offensive comments, would be a more serious offence than making offensive comments only. Threatening behaviour from four young men would also be likely to cause rather more alarm and distress to the victims than words from a drunk lady holding a baby. Which of these cases has gone to a Magistrate's court and which has gone to the Crown Court, which deals with more serious offences. Yep, you geussed it!

Assuming they are all convicted, anyone care to bet against the white receiving a much harsher sentence for a similar or lesser offense yet again? No, we wouldn't either, not without pretty decent odds anyway.

Humour disallowed

One of the hardest things about being a politician at any level, even a lowly parish councillor, is that you are not permitted to make the sort of jokes about anything that most of us make daily, if you are as ranty as we are anyway. Even allowing for the fact that she was Labour (who should all be exterminated in gas chambers) did this councillor really think that the Tory party conference should be bombed?

Having made the mistake of going along to a council meeting a couple of weeks back just to see what the bastards are up to we have been invited to participate further. We don't have any Labour councillors but we do have something even worse, a Green Party councillor, voted in by people who probably thought the Green Party was something to do with protecting the environment rather than an awful, interfering, high spending, pro immigration, pro traveller, busy body, leftist party and he is an utter twat.

This is the chap who objected to the rerouting of a local footpath around a local farmhouse that nearly everyone who actually uses it is in favour of and has locked the authorities and others into a 2 year procedure at god knows what cost and stressed out the family involved who have to put up with continual littering, damage and vandalism by kids, some from London inner city schools, attending a local activity camp.

He started all this with a typically leftist n page rambling submission of logic and fact free nonsense. One complaint is that there will be a worse view of the local steam railway line although a line of trees prevents any worthwhile view from the existing path. Another is that those with disabilities will find the new uphill route harder although, due to gates and steep hills in the existing route, anyone with significant disability will never make it to the diversion point anyway. He then garnered support by distributing leaflets inviting complaints from people who had never even been aware the path existed. Here is a simple tip for anyone wanting to canvas opposition to something. Distribute leaflets as follows "blah, blah, blah. Tick here if you wish to OPPOSE this CHANGE". You will get lots of ticks, the nature and purpose of the measure is irrelevant.

We probably won't bother to take our participation any further as we would soon be suspended. After one meeting, the temptation to distribute leaflets inviting people to blow this bloke up and then stand around laughing would probably be too much for us to resist.

The slanted world of PC reporting

The BBC has a rather pointless item on a Surrey Police Chief praising the Most Wanted website. Naturally this is illustrated by a photo of one Peter Waller wanted for theft. Couldn't choose one of the 7 out of the 12 on Surrey's Most Wanted page today who are black or Eastern European could we?

Curious silence on the issue of what some have described as genocide in South Africa too. I was aware of the huge level of violent crime in SA but, like many I daresay, had not realised the scale of the targetting of whites. If there was a recent similar scale of attacks on blacks by whites in the US I daresay we'd have heard all about it many times. If we get one racist attack by whites on a black guy here, we get to hear about it regularly for decades.

Yet more sense from Trevor Phillips

Here. Ignore the totally innacurate headline.

Mr Phillips said all faith groups providing public services must choose between their religion and obeying the law when their beliefs conflicted with the will of the state.

'You can’t say "because we decide we’re different then we need a different set of laws",’ he said.

Noise

Ask people what would be the scariest place they can think of to be at night, the type of place where it is easiest to imagine ghosts and monsters, and most will think of scenes from horror films or books. They will say the moonlit churchyard, the old castle corridors, the attic in the dark tower, the cobwebbed cellar or the spooky wood full of overhanging trees with twisted limbs. Few will mention, probably because they have never experienced it, the scariest place of all, the factory full of noisy machinery.

My first experience was some decades ago during a research project in a coal-fired power station. It was pitch dark outside but still early evening and there would have been plenty of people on the premises, just as there were all around the clock; the operators in the control room, the night shift workers busy in the workshops and other parts of the plant or drinking their tea in the canteen. Up on the third floor, near the tops of the huge vertical spindle coal mills where I was taking my readings, there was nobody.

The lights high up in the metal beams were very bright but sparse and created huge black shadows of the giant cylinders, areas of pitch blackness amid the cross hatched patterns of the grimy metal floor grill, areas that, due to the scale and closeness of the huge machines, joined together to form wide symmetrical paths that would have allowed monsters, had there been any, to creep up on me, unseen until it was too late.

But it wasn’t primarily the shadows that fired the imagination, it was the noise, a continual roar, a compendium of whirring and clanking, scraping and banging just below the point at which it damaged hearing, for those like me who did not work there permanently at least. What is it about perception at the limits of our senses that stirs the imagination in a way that normal experience does not? We do not listen to music or the sound of the wind or the voice of another and think we hear something beyond; yet at night, if we hear the faint annoying hum of a mosquito, even after we have got up, tracked it down and swatted it, why can we never stop hearing it? Way down amid that hiss of our ears that manifests itself only in darkness, we seem to hear that tiny high pitched buzz and can get up again and again, searching in vain for another tiny creature that is not there.

So it was with the cacophony of the machines. The plant was running normally close to design capacity and the sound must have been even in its overall amplitude, my knowledge of the machines told me that. Yet, standing there in that stark black and white world of metal, I heard the shouts and howls of immense angry crowds of something not quite human, coming closer and closer, hidden only briefly by the shadows of the huge mills.

Ghosts and demons, those are things that have nothing in common with science and technology. Rational engineers like me have no truck with them and I have walked alone through churchyards on moonlit nights and been conscious of nothing but the peace and stillness. Yet there, in my own world of coal and steel and combustion and electricity and mechanics, my assaulted senses came together and created monsters.

I was glad to finish for the night. I pulled out the metal pitot tubes and closed off the orifices, gathered my notebook and headed off down the clanging metal stairs. At the top I glanced back and, in the immense shadows of the nearest mill were several small glinting lights, the reflections from the instruments and the handles on the inspection hatches.

They looked like the eyes of demons and as I went down the stairs, I could have sworn I heard, amidst the banging and the roaring that assailed my ears, the frustrated screams of thwarted creatures.

Same old

No link, it seems the BBC is too PC to repeat on the net what will they cover once on the local TV news, but tonight we had another tale of an assault by Eastern Europeans on an elderly bailiff trying to prevent illegal fishing. They have contributed significantly in the last decade to the depletion of the fish stock in our rivers and to poaching of our wildlife generally. This is another too common problem caused by our wonderful migrants that is rarely mentioned or included in the assessment of their quite miraculous wonderfullness.

When this issue was mentioned by The Daily Mail six months back, the fact that it was in The DM allowed all the usual fuckwits to simply denounce it as false without checking. When the news item was taken up by the BNP they were able to raise their deliberate ignoring of reality to new levels. The reality is that this issue is such a problem that the Angling Trust has had to launch a new initiative, BUILDING BRIDGES WITH MIGRANT ANGLERS to combat it:

Recent years have seen illegal fishing increase dramatically in a number of areas of the country and many thousands of fish being killed in fisheries by anglers with no permission to fish there.

Time and again we have heard from anglers that their reports of fish thefts have been passed back and forth between the police and the Environment Agency, with each claiming it is the other’s responsibility.

Night lines with multiple hooks, nets and even poison have been used throughout the country to capture fish for consumption and sale.

Migrant workers, who come from cultures where coarse fish are regularly taken to eat, have taken huge quantities of fish (many of them large specimens) both legally and illegally in recent years.

At the beginning of 2010 The Angling Trust received funding from the Environment Agency to deliver our experimental "Building Bridges" project to help anglers from Eastern Europe understand UK angling laws and customs.

The main aim was to encourage these anglers to fish legally as part of angling clubs and at commercial fisheries. The Angling Trust has employed Radoslaw Papiewski, an enlightened Polish angler, for a period of one year. For one day a week. Rado has worked in the pilot project area, which is close to his home in Wiltshire, an area which has significant Eastern European migrant communities.

This initiative pays for at least one full time employee as above, articles in Polish publications, press releases here, angling club projects, fishing clubs especially for migrants, multi language signs and multi language leaflets distributed to 3000 shops and clubs and is funded by the Environment Agency, ie by the British taxpayer. All that is on top of the much higher taxpayer-funded costs of policing and courts and the costs borne by angling clubs and commercial fisheries.

There are other links from non-right sources, angling clubs and forums, court reports and a complaint by a Labour MP, that indicate the scale of the problem. A common theme, as in the comments by some anglers on this forum and in this BBC report is that it is not really their fault, it is simply what they are used to and they do not realise they are doing anything wrong. That may well be true but intentions are not relevant to the debate on the benefits of immigration, only the actual impact on British citizens.

Evolution of football fans

Isolation is an important factor in evolution as it says here:

When organisms become isolated the two groups are also not able to reproduce together, so variations and mutations that occur in one group are not necessarily found in the other group. The longer the groups are isolated, the more different they are. They eventually become different species.

Could it be that global migration is actually impeding evolution of the human race? Modern man is a single species and with interbreeding the significant differences that there are are diminishing. Less chance of a Homo Superior eventually evolving that will supercede the rest, as Homo Sapiens did to other hominid species. Thanks to socialism we are unlikely to get evolution on social lines either, as H G Wells imagined, while excessive concern with rights to family life for the less able may actually be taking our species backwards since evidence suggests that intelligence is largely inherited.

The idea of a united world in which all men are equal sounds like a great ideal but perhaps it would be the worst possible thing we could inflict on ourselves, a recipe for our eventual extinction. Maybe we should reconsider our strategy before it is too late and we are ousted by Earth's next dominant creature (woodlice - I betcha!). It could be that multi-culturalism is not so daft and that we really should be encouraging every form of human separation there is, socialists from capitalists, atheists from believers, Christians from Muslims etc, etc. In 10 million years time we shall see which of all these ideals really is superior when its 10 foot, 20 stone, super intelligent adherents begin their war to exterminate all the other dim little lobsterish Homo versions.

Wonder which will prove superior out of the Liverpool and Man U supporters.

Good item on the blog of coven member the freethinker regarding the London free speech rally. Dawkins always seems a bit too religious in his irreligious fervour to me but I liked his comment: Unlike Islamic scholars, a true scholar studies more than one book.

Quite. You really cannot get more unscholarly that studying some limited text, whether the Q'ran, the Bible, the Talmud or any other "holy book" looking only for arguments that you think support what you have already made up your mind about.
