I know. I get pestered by damn cold calls, mostly nothing I have actually had any dealings with, recorded calls telling me how to get out of debt etc. The organisations you register with that are supposed to stop it are useless. From recent experiences of the missus it seems they get confidential data from supposedly reputable insurance companies if not government departments.

Just think how much money religions could make if they decided to act on behalf of commercial companies. I recall Catholic masses where the stuff about the parish bingo sessions, jumble sales etc regularly went on much longer than the sermon. Maybe they could start having commercial breaks during the mass itself.

Anyway, good to hear from you, whoever you are. You really should get back to that blog thing that is nothing to do with you.

Greetings and so forth. I was busy on the pc this morning when the phone rang and it was a call from one of my credit card companies wanting to "introduce" me to a "new program", the sort of call I get, very annoyingly, from them every few months.

So I hung up and called the credit card company to get my number taken off their SPAM list, and before I could accomplish this I had to go thru an interminable phone menu followed by about 3 minutes of being put on hold, followed by a demand for my credit card number, the last four digits of my Social Security number, my home address, my phone number and, no shit, my mother's maiden name. All to get my number off their SPAM list.

I was very unhappy about this and called back again to speak to someone in upper management or at least get a memo sent to the appropriate person, to see if the identification requirements for getting off the unwanted call list couldn't be reasonably reduced to simply my credit card number and my phone number. Since they undoubtedly have Caller ID, this seems reasonable to me anyway.

All my efforts to get this supposed supervisor to forward either my call or my message were met with repeated apologies, repeated advisements that I should sit down and write the company a letter and mail it, repeated statements that I could change my personal preferences with the company, when I repeatedly told her to stop apologizing, stop telling me about letters and my personal preferences and connect me to someone in upper management, and repeated refusals to admit that upper management has totally insulated itself from any input whatsoever from us lowly customers.

I finally told this female parrot that she reminded me of Robert Gibbs, who is the mealy-mouthed liar and apologist Press Secretary for Obama, and hung up.

It was obvious that she was never going to give me the slightest assistance in persuing my efforts to effect a simplification of their very onerous process, in order to make it easier to get them to stop making unwanted phone calls. And you think the Catholic Church is bad?
